MTV developing Scream series

It was alright. Felt like it went too far overboard into camp sometimes.

The death was really heartbreaking although they may have went overboard with the "I can see our stars". I really like how they are treating Emma's relationship with the killer. Much more personal than Sydeny and Ghostface but that's due to the series aspect.

So I gave this a shot and I'm enjoying it. The sharp wit and clever humor of Williamson and great Craven writing and direction are sorely missed but this show is enjoyable and so is the mystery. It takes more than mere meta writing and pop culture references to succeed at being a great Scream story.

This is my first MTV scripted show and I get it's MTV but **** -- everybody is so damn good looking. Even Noah is a very well articulate speaker with a great expository voice. They all look like models wearing designer clothes. They're all so good looking. There of course was sex appeal in the films, but they felt like real teenagers down to what they wore, 90's clothing aside. Craven directed them in a such a way where it just felt casual, and even if they weren't teenagers, in that context it worked. Here it looks like in the casting notices it said, "HIRING GOOD LOOKING PEOPLE WHO CAN READ THESE LINES BUT ALSO HAVE PERSONALITY." It's just not subtle.

The mother is late 30's but is clearly older because I don't think MTV would want certain parents to be too old.

And of course the lesbian and/or outcast is wearing black and has short hair.

And Piper looks just as young as they are. Except she's wearing glasses so I guess she's smart and she's a hip podcaster.

But all these flaws aside, I'm enjoying things. My number one suspect is Brooke. I do like the idea of the stupid blonde girl cliche actually being the killer which Scream hasn't dealt with yet.

That, and the killer clearly has some of her *****iness. The phone calls are the highlight of an episode.

Her and the teacher (which is insanely creepy by the way) could be the two killers or she'll just kill him.

I haven't even formulated a theory about who could be the killer yet. It just seems too early-days for that. All I'll say is that I am counting down the minutes to the two jocks getting killed.

I like the new commercial with those killed so far (though they didn't include the no names at the start of episode 3).

They're clearly Stu divided by 2. How many episodes are in this season?

Sad that there was no phone call. But the mysteries are beginning to unravel.

Curious what the blackmail material is.

Liking Brooke as one of the killers. The situation with her mom being "away" reminds me of the first Scream movie.

So they really like to do that video txt blast thingy, should've held off on something like that a bit longer.

Yeah I haven't given much thought yet to who the killer could be. And yeah the jocks deaths im anxiously awaiting haha. I'm enjoying this show though. The look of the killer, the phone calls. Digging it.

I think that if they really want to surprise the audience with this show, they've gotta [blackout]kill Emma an episode or two before the end. They have to pull the rug out from under us. No better way than to kill their Sidney. Scream 4 switched things up by making their Sidney one of the killers. I think this time around, they have to kill her and shift the protagonist role to either Audrey or (as an extra helping of surprise) Brooke[/blackout].

I think [blackout]Noah[/blackout] is the killer (or at least one of them). The writers are trying too hard to make him the show's Randy. They aren't daring enough to make the show's Sydney the killer, as Sawyer suggests, but they'll make it their Randy.

I don't think it's so much about them being daring as it is that they did that very thing with just the last movie.

But what they haven't done yet is make the Tatum character, the pretty perky best friend the killer. Which is why I still think it's Brooke. Even after this episode. I think she's doing this to test how much people really hate her and mean to her and she's taking it out on them as part of her motive. But still wrapped in a observed modern meta bow.

Well, more sympathy for Emma. 3 minutes, that's disapointing...

A little slower than it needed to be, I think. I am enjoying it as things get revealed. But the tension wasn't really there this episode. I hope they can bring up the tension more next week.

No death tonight? Pffft. :o

They seemed to be playing up Kieran as the killer this episode.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the killer's voice in phone calls sounds just like the teacher's voice, but pitched up slightly.

Im kind of surprised that the ratings are so low. Awkward averaged more then 1mill an episode for its 4th season.

I noticed that too.

Yeah, I'm not saying he's one of the killers, especially because this last episode seemed to be using obvious misdirection about him. But it's possible that the actor is providing the voice for the killer.

Its MTV. They seem willing to give the majority of shows a second season. This being a summer show probably helped it.
