-sigh- It is a tv show. God. It isn't perfect, it is a cartoon. It has its flaws, if you don't like it - then you don't like it. Why complain consistantly about it? What does that achieve? Nothing... however much you think it does.

So... no second season?

I actually liked this show. It had a more mature feel to it like the Webb and Raimi films so that more younger people could enjoy it and not just kids.
Never liked this show. No way did it ever feel like a Spider-Man show. The whole vibe was off. I'd put it in a dog fight with Ultimate and Unlimited as worse show. The only thing it had going for it was the look of Spider-Man's costume and how he moved.
It's not like it was airing on FOX Kids. It was MTV which targets a much, much larger audience in a similar way to the movies. The target audience was aimed at younger people who had watched Raimi's first film and so it was best they mirrored it in terms of tone. Even SM1 was canon to the continuity.
No one remembers Ralph Bakshi's portion from the 60s to be placed as the WORST Spider-Man showNever liked this show. No way did it ever feel like a Spider-Man show. The whole vibe was off. I'd still place Ultimate Spider-Man as the worst Spider-Man series.

I like it, it's not terrible, I'd say it's watchableI have never seen Ultimate Spider-man...is it really that bad? I see it being bashed everywhere...

And for the record, I do like the MTV series when I watched it as a kid (yes, I'm that young).
The MJ was hot![]()
But it's tone was way off. It did not feel like Raimi's film at all. It was clearly aimed at an MTV "Real World" type demographic. And it felt like that type of demographic would not be interested in a Spider-Man show anyway.
Ultimate is miles above this show. The only competition it has for the title of worst is Spider-Man Unlimited. And I'd say it still wins there.
It felt like they were using scripts that even Smallville had rejected and adapted them to Pete,Harry and MJ.It felt nothing like the tone of Raimi's SM 1 despite supposedly being in continuity. It felt more in line with TASM,which is why it's probably getting the minor applause it has. They were clearly going for MTV's "hip n trendy" crowd of the day.
