Music Is Magic - The Composer of the Strange - Speculation Thread

I liked Brian Tyler's fanfare, gives me chills when I watch it. too bad they stopped it after Avengers 2.

Hollywood Records to Release ‘Doctor Strange’ Soundtrack

Film Music Reporter said:
Hollywood Records will release the official soundtrack album for Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange. Academy Award winner Michael Giacchino (Up, Jurassic World, Lost, Star Trek, Inside Out, The Incredibles, Ratatouille) is composing the film’s original music. The soundtrack will be released physically on November 18, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A digital version is expected to be released earlier in November. Check back on this page for the full album details. Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton. The movie based on the Marvel Comics character follows surgeon Stephen Strange who encounters the Ancient One after a career-ending car accident. The film will be released on November 4 by Walt Disney Pictures.

'Doctor Strange' Soundtrack Album Art

Since the movie comes out on October 28th for a lot of places, i wonder if the digital release will be earlier, i usually like Giacchino's work so i cant wait to hear this.

That's for the animated movie that was released in 2007. I'm curious, where did you find that page?

Oh, is it? Didn't notice - sorry.

My Google fu failed me, obviously. I just input doctor strange soundtrack and stumbled across it.

Cool score, anyway.

The Master of the Mystic End Credits (Audio Only) from Doctor Strange

It's distinctive, but I'm not really digging it, largely based on what I thought it'd be. The harpsichord-sounding bit hints at something nice, but it's not sweeping or majestic enough. Composition is fine of its own. I guess I just envisioned something grander, evoking power and mysticism.

Could you give an example of a movie score that evokes mysticism?
Just curious.

Lol, great throwback to the 70s, Hammond Organ included. I love it.

Also, this is the end credits. The main score will likely be different, but it does give us an indication on what the theme may be like.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe came to mind.

I suppose what was rattling around in my head was a number of operatic highs and lows, some piano accompaniment, changing tempos, blah, blah, blah. Maybe I should have described what I had in my head as a sense of wonder. Some stuff I've heard of John Ottman keeps sticking. Maybe Steve Jablonsky.

The 70s feel did come across as part of the distinction. I did like that.

Sounds great. I'm really digging the rock vibe of the score, and it certainly sounds "strange". Here's hoping that the rest of the score is just as good as that theme (Giacchino don't fail me now).

For me the first scores that came to mind when it came to the term "mystic", were David Rakson's Laura and Morricone Days of Heaven. Both almost sound otherwordly in a lot of ways.

Man, this is sooo weak. :csad: I was expecting something other-wordly, not some ordinary acid rock with a harpsichord. :whatever:

Even I can compose much more magical music.

Like check out my Sunrise in the Crystalline Dimension fan art music for Torment: Tides of Numenera...

^^
What part of "end credits" didn't you understand? This deliberately invokes the 70s. You know, the time when the comics were conceived. It's an homage. This is not what the main score will sound like. (At least, I'm willing to bet it isn't.)

Well, what a nice way to present Doctor Strange score, by releasing track that is not indicative of the soundtrack itself... :whatever:

Keeps things interesting, don't you think?

Besides, I understand that the full score will be available before the week is out. Then we'll know if you could still do better music than that. :o

Seems like I should compose some fan art Doctor Strange music.

Wouldn't be a bit surprised if we didn't hear this in the movie somewhere
