The Dark Knight MUST be 'R' Rated...

Regardless of whether or not this movie is intended for kids, they should still be able to go see it and enjoy it. an R rating would make that harder. My brother is 12, he will be 14 when TDK comes out, but I wouldnt be able to take him to see it due the R rating. He loved Batman Begins, like's the classic Alien Flicks, hell, he even digs Tarantino flicks, (he doesnt know who the dude is but) granted just cuz the movie isnt meant for children doesnt mean they shouldnt be allowed to watch it because of some stupid rating system. PG-13 would be just fine and they wouldnt be compromising anything.

Why don't you list exactly what Batman needs to do that he can only do in an 'R' movie?

I think he meant more like what the Joker would do. Really the most gruesome thing Joker does is with the Joker venom, but we saw that done in a PG-13 Batman film before. No need to make that excessively gruesome for the sake of pulling an R-rating. Same with having Joker shoot people and whatnot.

There's should be a sex scene.

Sure. At the end Batman and Joker can have a heart-to-heart about bad days, and then they can do each other and skip hand-in-hand to the Asylum.

What? :ninja:

I don't remember that in TKJ..........

guess I need to read it again

Well... there must have been SOME reason why it panned down to their feet while they were giggling...

I'll admit, that one made me laugh. But it Joker had his back turned then I might have believed it.

Nothing says there wasn't a handjob involved. Or another kind of job.

Seriously - If their going to do the Joker properly then it will need to be rated R-18 or at least M-15 like Tim Burtons Batman. If the rumour is true and their going to be using The Killing Joke as the main source for the movies story then, as people who have read it will know, theres some real messed up stuff in there.
The Joker will need to be a psychotic maniac who will actually scare the audience and , as fantastic as Begins was, i dont think a PG-13 will cut it for The Dark Knight.

it absolutley does not have to be R rated, in a perfect world it would be, but money is bigger then anything in hollywood, there is no way WB is puttin 120 million or more including marketing and whatnot into a movie that only people above the age of 17 are supposed to be able to go to it, sure it would still do fine in the box office and probobly be the better movie, but there taking away all the cash of the 12-15 year olds who still need mom and dad to take them to a movie to go, so your not losing one ticket your losing the kids ticket, there friends ticket, and there dads ticket in one trip

it will be PG-13 and it will still be perfectly fine being PG-13 just like Begins was, and more then likely surpass it

The reason I've seen some people that want an R, want the Joker to be able to slice people up with a knife and carve smiles into their faces, basically they want him to be a Freddy Kruger clone, with blood and gore all over the place. Something we can do without. That is NOT the Joker.

As I told the Ghost Rider fans before the rating came out, IT WON'T BE R RATED!

Also, I don't ever want to see an R rated batman, he's doing fine as a PG13 character.

Ghost Rider should be. Or at least it could work very well as an R a la Blade.

Batman ...no.

Keep it PG folks! Wasnt the Matrix franchise R-rated?

I hope to goodness that TDK ain't rated PG. There would be no chance of the Joker being as dark and sinister as Ledger is letting on.

On second thought, if TDK is R that means Joker can rape, kill and piss on Rachel (not necessarily in that order)

so screw the box office with no invite to the kiddies?

I think Flags of our Fathers this weekend also suffered for many reasons but among them its because its R'Rated. Now Paramount and Warner are worried about this huge loss of money.

I'd love to see an R-rated Batman, these Batman films are not dark and gritty enough for these eyes and ears. You can feel Studio-Heads peeking over the shoulders of the filmmakers--within all comics book films. For once, I'd like to see an icon comic book film made, that just says f--- it and f--- PG-13...and brings the raw to the boar.

But... that's not what Batman's about. A Punisher movie, sure. Sin City? Oh look, that happened.

Batman? No. Just... no.
