I thought you guys might want to take a look at my latest action figure project. This time, I took a Leatherneck Sigma 6 GI Joe and turned him into Marcus Fenix, the grizzled protagonist of Gears of War. Enjoy.

And to appease the Xbox fanboys here... :D

A dremel, some apoxie sculpt, paint, and a lot of elbow grease. :p

I must give props to Jin Saotome though, since most of what I know how to do comes from his tutorials.

Jin does some majorly crazy stuff. I'm still trying to figure out how he puts LEDs inside of an action figure's head.

Yea, i just clicked on that link and i was floored by some of the stuff he did. The last thing i ever sculpted, came out looking like s***, literally....i think i was trying to make a key bowl.

It's nice, but the before picture just makes me sad about how terrible looking alot of action figures are nowadays...

Sigma 6 figures definitely emphasize playability over displayability. However, their blocky designs lend themselves very nicely to customs, since you don't have to obsess over matching every little detail like you would with say, a McFarlane Movie Maniacs figure. I would argue that the Sigma 6 figures are some of the best toys to come along in a good while, just because of the fun factor (although that doesn't really matter with customs, since I end up swapping out all the accessories anyway, lol).

I preffer the stuff like the Marvel Legends and new DC Universe figures. Still playable, but not blocky and ugly looking.

The official ones are crazy. I'm hoping to snag one or two at some point.

Cool. I see you're a Terminator fan, you ever do one of Arnie before?

I've toyed with the idea of doing an Arnie T-800 Sigma 6 at some point. Right now I'm making a Riddick figure, so I suppose I should do an Arnie one at some point.
