Well, as exciting as it is that we get a DB movie, I must say that I am scared for the future of potential Dragonball movies.

It seems that we got a subpar / average movie that most non-fans aren't going to think anything of. Thus, we arn't going to get many new fans, and most movie goers won't care to see a sequel because they have a bad experience associated with it.

Therefore, even if we get a new director and an amazing sequel I'm scared for the box office because a lot of non-fans won't care to see it after seeing this one. This is a real shame too because they really have no idea what is about to happen with the series and where its going.

So, sad to say, but I hope an new studio and new director at least just reboot the franchise under the name Dragonball. Make it high quality that all the fans will want to see. Get in a decent amount of money from fans...then non-fans will see it on DVD or TV and be blown away. After that, everyone will be intrested in a sequel if they do it good enough, and we can have a proper Saiyan saga with a lot of hype around it.

Otherwise, we could see two more subpar movies that are barely passable in box office and never get the movie franchise that Dragonball deserves.

yeah, i used to imagine scenes for a dragonball movie. what i imagine was like 10 times better than what we got.

How come I can come up with mental images in a split second that arn't hard to do considering movies in today's industry, but a movie with 100 million budget can't come close to?

i blame fox, when this was announced they gave it to james wong and they filmed in mexico with no news and 2 month time. i should have known.

its all fox fault. in 2009 making DB type of action is pieace of cake. and if you have a budget of 80 millions its easier.

Fears I can see.

But ... hopes? REALLY?

I'm a DB and DBZ fan and I had hopes for this movie but now, I'm thinkin it's gonna be the Batman & Robin of the series. If so a few, hopefully not too many years from now a reboot or the Batman Begins of the series could be made and be as epic as it should be.

I wouldn't be worried. I'd HOPE the movie would bomb if it was bad. Then I'd hope for a reboot. If this movie sucks I wouldn't want a sequel to it. Even with a good director everything would still be messed up.

I'd rather have a fresh clean reboot with them tackling it from more of a fantasy angle.
