My god, have critics and fans lost their innerchild?

I don't know, I mean yeah, lots of people are going to flame you, but there is a surprising about of people who are very unsatisfied with certain elements of the movie. I've been vocal on my dissapointment with the characterization of Spider-man, MJ for the past two years now, and I've expressed my disatisfaction with the new GG suit since it came out.

True. It's radical over there. They're sharks. Sometimes they gun you down for suggesting venom will be a villain. Now that he is, it's the best decision ever! I feel so alone in the spidey boards. Dock Ock's the only one who I really like to read when I go there nowadays.

Now I'm not saying you wouldn't get flamed, I mean, no matter what kind of thread you make that is openly declaring dislike against something, people are going to flame you. But if you made...say, a thread on your dissapointment with the chariterization of Spider-man, or the GG2 suit (a while back there was a thread titled something along the lines of "The new Goblin Suit sucks...") You might find that more people agree with you then you think.

Yeah, cuz it does. What was raimi thinking? However I know from experience the worst time to voice your dislike for something is when the hype machine starts chugging. Then people lose all perspective and become the fanboys they truly are. I don't blame them since I'm one too but it can get ridiculous.

Me: "I hate macy gray in this scene"

Fanboy: "It was only for a few seconds"

Me: "That's a few seconds too many."

Fanboy: "Nitpicker!"

Yeah, the diehard spidey fans who pretty much think whatever Raimi does is cool will flame you, but like I said, you might be surprised.

Ok, I'll give it a shot... Wow, this is kind of exciting...

soooooooooo, if we were told Fairy Tales as children, wed be able to comprehend more Sophisticated things?
and also the special effects were part of the plot of the story? mmhmm, mmhmm i see. now can anyone else tell me how the special effects were part of the plot and story of the movie,b/c my THICK skull just isnt grasping what hes getting at here.

ok, so you enjoyed the movie for your reasons of you dont expect much when it comes to comic adaptions, you just enjoy it. I didnt enjoy it because i dont think it was made well, in the terms of editing, dialogue, tone (overly campyness), plot holes, weak plot, and other things that before seeing the movie i dismissed because i wanted to enjoy this movie until i saw it, and all the things i listed just made the movie unbearable for me both as a gr fan n just as a regular person going to the movies. like when i was a kid n saw batman and robin i knew it was lame, but it still is made a lil better than ghost rider was. batman is a dark n gritty comic character and yet batman n robin wasnt dark at all. it was more like a movie version of a saturday morning cartoon,BUT, there are saturday morning batman cartoons. and there is the old tv series with adam west which was def kid friendly n full of camp. so that allows for batman and robin to be as it was. but there were never any saturday morning ghost rider cartoons, no show from the 60s where he would have whipped someone with his chain and you see on the screen a KAPOW!. so theres no reason the movie should have been the way it was. if the made the crow movie to be campy and not so serious, just how do you think the fans would have reacted? ugh i feel me saying all this is still going to be useless, whatever.

Yeh I didn't go into ghost rider and think "I hope it has good editing" or something along those lines I just wanted to see an enjoyable start for a ghost rider franchise and I did find it enjoyable because I wasn't trying to analyse it as a film. I didn't think the plot was that bad really...it was good enough to get the job done and I don't really see all these plot holes that people keep mentioning.

I guess some people don't like the corny lines but I wouldn't say that the entire movie was campy because there was still a dark tone to it. It could of been darker but they obviously wanted it be pg-13 so more people would see it...I guess you could hope for an unrated directors cut or maybe the sequel. If you really want me to analyse it as a film...then yes, the editing was bad.

i dont go into movies thinking "i hope the editing was done well" either. im not some kind of big movie guy, but i still like when movies are just made well. and for me the editing was so bad that i couldnt ignore it, it kept coming back at me through out the whole movie. its not like im trying to find things wrong with this movie, i didnt want to hate it, but unfortunately i do.

Very few ppl go into a film analyzing it's shortcomings. But if you constantly get slammed in the face with it how are you supposed to ignore it? Am I literally supposed to leave my brain at the door and just sit there mindless to whats happening on the screen?

none of us go into a movie thinking specifically about the editing. we just want to see a good film. picking on the editing, the story, acting, plot holes, etc. just comes natural to some people. for instance...some people are just willing to accept that the old Ghost Rider saved his 'one last ride' just to gallop across the desert with the new Ghost Rider only to turn around at the last moment and ride back into the desert...but a lot of us go "wtf was that for then?" it cheapens the movie when you know that they haphazardly molded the script just so they could insert a scene of old GR and new GR riding side by side to make the movie seem cooler. adding the money shot isn't enough...there has to be a reason behind it. if there's a reason behind it, it makes that shot more dramatic and meaningful instead of just eye candy...which is basically all that scene was.

Hellboy was PG-13 and it makes GR look about as dark as the F4 movie. there might've been dark shots and night time shots but it wasn't a dark film. it wasn't hard and gritty....it was light and campy.

Well this is my last post. I did the spiderman thing. Seems to be working out pretty well, better than expected. My hope in humanity is restored. I'm off to college now to get a degree and do something with my life.

And DorkyFresh, don't ever watch star wars cuz Obi-wan prettymuch does the same thing.

bye. Love ya hype. :hyper:

i've seen Star Wars and i'm not afraid to say that if it weren't released until recently it would be laughed at. it made such an impact on movies when it was released because the standards for movie making were MUCH MUCH lower than they are today. it was a great movie for it's time but it doesn't hold up to today's movies. with how half-assed GR was done one would think MSJ directed GR by 70's standards instead of that of the 2000's.

It still had a dark tone though in the selling of his soul, the first transformation, blackheart killing people, the burnt eyes etc. Hellboy balanced dark and humour better though.

As for caretaker it isn't really explained but I would assume that he was already dead or a spirit of some kind as he already has a grave, the last ghost rider was 150 years ago and he vanishes at the end so I would say he is going to hell. He doesn't go back into the desert though...he vanishes and where he goes is unclear but I would say if theres a sequel he is in hell. The editing was bad but I don't really think it made it unwatchable.

I posted earlier that everyone who hates the film needs to go see a doctor. This film is UBER KOOL. Better than Superman R and Spidey films. The best superhero film that has the true spirit of the comics.

I thought it was total trash. It could have been done really well. Sadly another ballsed up marvel film IMO....only my opinion. What they needed was a more coherrent story. This ranks as bad as Electra and that my friends is a sad thing as it could mean that there might not be a chance for a good sequal....where they can put right all the wrongs in the movie.

PS I did like NC as GR

The movie was cool but the baddies went down too easily for my liking. They could have made GR suffer a lil bit before taking down their ass.

a local alternative culture magazine gave it 3 stars.. (out of 5).. I hope that the next film has more extended fight scenes, more Ghost Rider dialogue, and I hope the film gets a summer release date that it deserves..
PS- I’m not interested in Dan Ketch for now—only when Cage says he’s done with the role would I accept having Dan take over..

A think the movie was really good, but there were a few ---->WTF! scenes.
Like...
-he dives from the bridge into the water with his bike and his flames remain!?
-he whistles for his bike to come!! ( he has no tongue!!!)
-again he transformes into the rider in the water when fighting the water element guy WTF?

I know he is a comic book character and all, but for the love of god please let there be a little bit of realisem in the sequel.

MSJ was an executive producer for "Elektra." The entire guy's resume is a list of crap to avoid watching.

Cage is currently starting production on The Wicker Rider--a movie about an aged, one-note hangdog actor who resides in a rocking chair at the Shady Rest Nursing Home and ponders where is youth--along with his ability to pick a good script--has disappeared.

In answer to "My god, have critics and fans lost their innerchild?
The answer is no . . . it's just that some of us have grown up, and as adults we can see a turd is a turd and call it like we see it.

Toadie fanboys who fawn over MSJ posts can't see beyond their own myopia.
They can be happy that "GR" has done brisk box office, but there's just not enough content to stimulate most audiences over the age of 12, never mind the ones that actually care for the source material.

back when spawn came out, i was 9. even then i knew that movie blew and i didnt like it because it wasnt good. so i think my "inner child" knows if a movie is made like crap or not. so yeah, ghost rider bit big time.

Mystic hellfire ring a bell?

He neither has lips nor vocal cords, but he can still talk.

See first answer.

I don't even like the movie and even I think those are stupid points to complain about.

I kinda agree with the Spawn movie. So,it did have those cool special effects but the movie sucked.Big time! The only thing that was good about it was the clown.I think he was the best character in that movie.

Maybe because it wasn't "awesome" to them? Maybe it was because of the awful plot and corny dialogue? I realize this was supposed to be a fun popcorn flick, but it didn't really deliver for me. I'd say this worse than Daredevil, but better than Elektra. Cage saves the movie from being a total waste of time.

My "inner child" is a movie critic and was nevered fooled by such crap as Ghost Rider which in my opinion was worse than DareDevil by atleast 2 points

The Director's cut was a better movie but it still suffered from the same problems that plagued the Theatrical.

Now Favreau, who is known for nothing but comedies, is doing Iron Man, so let's see if the corny factor remains when he takes it on. MSJ is an avid comic fan, which basically negates the argument that most of us could do better on a flick than directors that are comic geeks, as we'd probably have to deal with all the **** they do.

Its a good popcorn flick. Did very well at the box office. Nuff' said.

yeah that movie was awesome
some people just think that since its about a comic it will ruin it
but i really really liked that movie
its now my favorite movie
