I removed some scenes, repositioned others, and included the Xavier voiceover bit at the beginning. This is actually apart of my entire re-edit of X-Men: The Last Stand, which stands at 1 hour and 20 minutes exactly -- basically editing 16 minutes out of the film, which include all of the Angel scenes or any corney one-liners that I thought needed to have been removed (you'll notice a corney one-liner missing here).

Any opinions would be much appreciated. It's a bit rough editing job, so I'll understand the harsh comments (however the video quality is pretty good).

If enough people like this, I'll try and find a way to upload more of my X3 Re-Edit.

A re-edit...interesting!
This far, it looks good, but as you said, it's still a bit rough.

The way you cut down the opening scenes, and so getting to Beast's introduction sooner, gives the feeling of him being central to the plot. I like that, though there is not enough material of him to support that.

Maybe it's an idea to move the scene where he visits Worthington Labs to after the scene where he meets with the President? It seems logical to me that the secretary of Mutant affairs would inspect the laboratory before the cure is made available, instead of after it. Giving Beast 3 scenes in a row, may give him a (even) more solid introduction.

Since you omitted the Danger Room scene, are you going to use shots of it in the final battle?

It sounds cool, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it. Maybe when the DVD comes out, you can add little bits and pieces found in the documantaries back into the movie.

the danger room scene was ok yet they should've left out the Sentinel head definetly. they should save the Sentinels when they go into mass production in like X4 or whatever

or at the very least made sure it actually resembled a Sentinel.

Loved the manssion scenes together, and without action, only the characters and dialogue.

Would be nice make a new one with all the interior manssion scenes together, or some of them like Storm and Xavier, the classroom, Storm and Logan, Kitty and Bobby, Colossus with the TV, etc.

I don't like it.

Whether the Danger Room sequence could have been better or not, it establishes some key points in the film:

A. Rogue getting jealous of Bobby and Kitty. The seeds of this start here in the Danger Room.

B. Scott's "fall" from responsibility with the X-Men. It is here that we see that he's not able to follow through on his respnsibilities anymore ("I'm just the sub, you got a problem talk to Scott")

And again, despite the fact that it could have been better, Angel's arc is pretty important to show an intimate view of the cure. Without it, it just doesn't have the same impact.

And why did you cut out the background with Mystique? "Raven Darkholme, that's your real name isn't it? Or has he convinced you you don't have a family?" "My family tried to kill me you pathetic meatsack."

I don't think that scene needed to be shortened any.

I'm going to try what I've said, but my computer use to give me problems...

I was planning on re editing X-3 with all the deleted scenes, and that has shown me what not to do.

Sorry

Too choppy. Moves much too quickly. In your effort to get rid of "corny" lines like Mystique's and Wolverine's, you've gotten rid of most of what made this segment of the film work. Sorry, but cutting MORE character development was not the solution to making this film better. Thumbs down.

If I could re-edit and remix the DVDs like i can music, I'd create my own super-versions of all three movies.

I just have no idea what software would allow easy manipulation of the scenes. I can't face doing it by hand using a DVD recorder....

It's also picked on when Bobby and Kitty go ice skating. It was an introduction, but not a necessary one.

The confrontation scene between Scott and Logan gets this across sufficiently.

Angel's (what, three?) scenes added practically nothing to the movie. In my re-edit, his abscence does not effect the movie in any way whatsoever.

It was a corney and horrible line.

I hadn't thought of that. I might toy with that idea.

No, since the Danger Room sesson doesn't really gel with anything during the final battle. Really, the entire Danger Room scene was a waste.

Thanks. And I might do that. :D

Haha. That would be incredibly painstaking. I don't blame you for not be able to do that. I don't think I would be able to even consider it.

I don't agree with those things at all.

I also wouldn't remove the things you removed. Angel already got cut from X2 (a random appearance in Stryker's lair, with no backstory), i think he served a purpose in this film as the backdrop for the cure - the fear and family pressure over his mutation, his final 'coming out' and literal flight of freedom, his finding a home to be with others of his kind, his forgiveness of his father by rescuing him, his guiltless freedom at the very end when flying over a world where mutants were more accepted. He symbolised how many mutants (and in the real world, gays/adolescents/misfits, might feel). There is huge meaning in his story arc, brief though it might have seemed to many.

Yeah, Angel's role was small, but people fail to realize how massively important he was to the film. His arc provides a sort of motif that, when taken away, removes much of the emotional impact that the film has to offer. Sorry, Seen, it's just not working.

Our reoccuring theme. ;)

Yes, allegorically, symbolically, he may have represented those things -- of course, one could say that those feelings were encapsulated within Magneto's idealisms and something any regular person could decipher without the Angel character.

His character was horribly constructed. He began great (his scene with his father) but he got literally no development past that. Why was he hesitant towards taking the cure? Because it was "what [his father wanted]?" Bull****. That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard, albeit entirely predictable (so much that my two friends in the theater actually said that bit outloud before Angel even said it, making a group around us laugh). We get a little itty bitty scene at the beginning, and wham, he's refusing the cure and off he goes.

Then, we don't see him until he arrives at the mansion, and then not again until he saves his Dad from those baddie muties. C'mon, for the love of god. His purpose was practically nonexistant. Why didn't he join the team at the end? Why didn't he have a voice for his own opinions? We only could allude to his position, everything else that you described it basically an opinion of you and not really an opinion of the character. We have no idea how Angel felt during the film, besided shown hesitancy towards the cure.

His deletion from the film didn't effect the story at all. You could easily have gotten that same metaphorical reasoning from Rogue, who had similiar issues with the cure. Angel was not neccessary.

What emotional impact? Angel's character had no emotional impact. I certainly didn't feel it. But that's your view. In my opinion, my cut worked superbly without Angel's scenes. Far better, in fact. :)

Angel the #1 test subject to take the cure Jumped out the Window...and flew away...couldn't rogue at least do what he did.....???

hey thisis weird, im doing this also. Im re editing the first x1 movie right now. then im ordering the region 2 dvd and plan on adding/editing some scenes and even put in the pheonix effect as well.

It was really emotional when he stuck his head into one scene to remind the movie audiences that he still exists.

Now why couldn't Scott do that of all people? THAT, would have been really emotional.

Instead we got this:

"Hi, everybody! I heard this is a safe place for mutants?"
