Namor the Sub-Mariner

If Marvel finally gets the rights for Fantastic Four, I would love to see Namor in a Fantastic Four movie!

So if a Namor movie is ever made, what costume should they go with? Speedo, or buck naked? I say go with the latter. We've all seen superheroes in briefs. But a nudist superhero would be truly progressive. In fact, they should only consider nudist actors. :D

Now that Chris Pine is in Wonder Woman, Karl Urban is in Thor and Zoe Saldana is in GOTG, Zachary Quinto should be in a comic book movie. And a good pick would be Namor.

And I don't think of him because of Spock and the pointy ears. I actually thought of him before he ever played Spock when he was just Sylar. Namor needs to seem like an anti hero who could straddle the line of being a villain, and even look slightly villainous, which Quinto does.

Yeah, if they make it official, then hook it up. Soon.

I think Universal still has the distribution rights. I'm sure Feige will get asked about it during the Doctor Strange press tour.

I think that he just recently reverted in full. Even then, I'd like to see him introduced as an Avengers villain first before he becomes a hero.

He'll most likely be in Black Panther. It's no coincidence that his name came up during the Civil War release only for us to hear this now.

Probably not. It's all but confirmed that the villains are going to be Klaw and Killmonger.

Last I had heard the rights for Namor were spread out, and thus too tangled up for anyone to do anything with it. If Marvel got it back that's cool.

I've got to be honest, I think namor' rights have been misreported. All quesada said is the rights aren't with fox or Sony so he assumed that means marvel has them. But he forgot about universal which are likely to still have the rights.

But whatever, we can still dream. I still think Daniel dae Kim could play namor well

Is Namor Planned for Marvel Phase 4?
Captain America: Civil War writer Stephen McFeely wants to see Namor the Sub-Mariner be introduced in Marvel Phase 4.

CIVIL WAR WRITERS WANT TO BRING NAMOR & MARVEL ZOMBIES TO THE BIG SCREEN

'Civil War' Writers on Introducing Spider-Man, Black Panther (Q&A)
"We needed those different perspectives on the same conflict, people who didn't have the same angst about everything because they hadn't shared five movies with these people," said screenwriter Steve McFeely.

Well I'm all for Namor, but not Marvel Zombies. The Zombies seem like they should take place in an alternate universe or the small screen.

Guys, Feige already commented on Namor a long time ago.

IGN interview July 18, 2014 on Namor rights:
IGN: Finally, there were rumours circulating awhile back that Universal and Legendary Pictures were developing a Sub-Mariner movie, but there was also some confusion about who holds the rights to the character. So could Legendary make that movie at this point?

Feige: No.

IGN: So if a film were to happen it would be you guys making it?

Feige: Yes, but it’s slightly more complicated than that. Let’s put it this way – there are entanglements that make it less easy. There are older contracts that still involve other parties that mean we need to work things out before we move forward on it. As opposed to an Iron Man or any of the Avengers or any of the other Marvel characters where we could just put them in.

Are you all developing amnesia?

I remember that interview but Quesada makes it sound as if those aforementioned entanglements are no longer a major factor. However, both interviews are extremely vague and if I'm being honest I don't suspect we'll hear anything about this any time soon. I have a feeling they're going to wait and see how Aquaman is received before moving forward with their own King of Atlantis.

I think so too.
I've thought for some time that they may even be afraid of what it takes to film a character that has to involve extended scenes of underwater action, and even normal character interaction underwater. More so than Aquaman, I think they're waiting to see what happens with Cameron's Avatar sequels, at least one of which is said to take place under water.
That guy always develops new tech in his movies...
When does that come out again?

My dream Phase Four scenario includes Namor, The Fantastic Four, and Silver Surfer.

I wonder who could play attuma? And I wonder how bringing in Namor would affect the audience now that an aquaman movie is so close

Whichever one comes out second will be immediately dismissed as ripping the former off.

I don't think Namor would seem as much of a rip off if he's featured in Fantastic Four first, and seen as a kind of villain initially who makes war with the surface world.
