Namor the Sub-Mariner

I don't wanna fuel the fire even more but... Production Weekly is listing a project called The Sub-Mariner.

Well, we are getting Aquaman.

But I agree Namor would be great. And he has an interesting history with many of the heroes (Cap, the Avengers, Fantastic Four, the Hulk etc).

I agree. Momoa has the wrong physique. I hope Marvel don't now go and get the Rock.

Namor's physique ought to be more like Michael Phelps's. The actor who even plays him ought to train for real to become not only good at swimming but to even look like an Olympic swimmer.

I agree 100%. If the character is well acted and has the right look, but if his stroke in the water sucks then it would ruin everything for me. I mean this character is supposed to be as natural and graceful in the water as on land and perhaps even more so. He needs to cut through the water quickly and effortlessly. So, I agree they should get an actor that is already a very good swimmer and then build on that like they are training him for the olympics.

This would delight me to no end if it were true. When Marvel announced that they were financing their own films, the three characters I wanted to see above all else were Black Panther, Dr. Strange, and Namor. I'm thrilled that I'm getting two of those but Sub-Mariner would really be the cherry on top.

I think the actor just needs to think of it like he's training for a triathlon or something. It's not difficult with the right diet, proper weight training and tons of swimming training to get the correct physique and develop the right technique that looks graceful.

For boxing movies, the actors train for those now as if they were really going to do it. Blake Lively also trained for the Shallows which is why she looked in such great shape, because she knew also that she needed the stamina for all that filming in the water and the tons of swimming she'd have to do every day.

I wouldn't be against having someone like Lively as Namora or Namorita if she couldn't be Sue Storm. In fact, it would be an excuse to get her in the Shallows shape again and into a swimsuit once more.

They really do need the FF back. They just do.

In time. I feel like Namor, Black Widow and War Machine are the last solo projects that need to be greenlit which Marvel still own the rights to. Marvel don't need the FF yet.

I'd love to see Namor as the villain in the first Fantastic 4 film while setting up Doom in the background.

What if they are finally going ahead with Namor because they got FF back? They can use Sue as a love interest.

Woah woah woah. I see people fancasting Donnie Yen as Namor. That would be the greatest casting ever. He really looks the part too.

Namor doesn't need to be white right?

Sue as Namor's love interest? Nah. I'd like to see him try but she's already with Reed.

A lot of people are speculating it's a TV pilot since it's coming together so quickly.

What if it's the show John Ridley was working on?

It could be. But Namor doesn't really fit TV.

They could be using Inhumans as a testing ground for a TV/movie hybrid show.

Namor could be that as well.

What do you mean it's coming together so quickly? I thought everything was just a rumor at this stage. And for the record, I'm against Namor being resigned to the small screen.

It seems like they're getting ready to film fairly soon. (If it turns out to be true)

I'm with you though. I'd much rather see Namor in a movie.

Could a TV show even work if Universal is still involved somehow?

Marvel has the full rights I believe.

Everything is done behind the scenes. How do you know its coming together quickly? They could be planning it for years. Or waiting for other movies to set up story elements.

I just meant like why would they be getting ready to film it now? I doubt we'd get 4 films next year.

We're not sure about the rights. Feige said 3 years ago that there were still complications

Namor is CINEMATIC and deserves the big screen treatment. No thanks to TV, especially since the Ridley deal is with ABC (if this involves him). Even if we get something similar to the INHUMANS deal I'd be disappointed until I see how that show turns out. I wish Marvel would abandon network TV completely, stick to premium content providers like streaming services or cable.

Gotcha. I agree but we have no concrete info.

I wouldn't like to see Namor on TV either

Yeah no way to TV. We're talking about Namor, one of Marvel's first characters. He deserves to be on the same screen as Cap, Iron Man and etc. Plus, we'd be one step closer to a potential MCU Illuminati.

They really do need the FF back. They just do.
I don't even want the FF for the FF. I mainly want their side characters and villains in the MCU. They have villains like Super Skrull and some other skrulls, Galactus, Dr.Doom(the best), and Kang the Conquer.

I believe if Marvel had them at the start, Dr.Doom would be the big bad for the 1st three phases. They would have built up to the Infinity Gauntlet.

I just don't have that kind of faith in DC. I have only seen Man of Steel from the DCEU line up. I skipped BvS because it had not actual build up just a clear cash grab. I have always hated Suicide Squad. I am likely skipping Wonder Woman as well. I will watch Flash because the hero is an all time favorite of mine, Martian Manhunter if he gets a movie, and MoS 2 if Brainiac is the villain. Other than those movies I just don't care for what they are serving.

I don't think they say they are filming it soon.

''Reel News Hawaii reporting that Marvel is planning to go into production on a Namor the Sub-Mariner project.''

Production have many levels bro.

But Marvel opening a studios in Hawaii is a dead giveaway.

Namor is happening.

Production Weekly posted about Sub-Mariner though. The studio opening in Hawaii could just be for Inhumans since they're filming a lot of it there.

That will NEVER happen.

Would be terrible brand management to withhold their brand from freemium television. It's integral to the larger marketing picture.
