Namor the Sub-Mariner

Namor and AM are very different characters. Namor is much more of an anti-hero. He might be a way to introduce mutants since in the comics he's considered the first mutant, rather than go with his comic origins of being half human/half Atlantean like AM, even though Namor came before AM in the comics. At this point, you play Namor as the main antagonist but someone that could occasionally be an ali, maybe like Loki in that regard.

Yeah plus I think by the time they introduce namor there will be a need for him. Someone who just hates the establishment and wants to give the middle finger to everything

The most heroic Namor seemed to be was when he joined the Avengers. I was surprised when they let him on that team for an extended stay, since he was often an antagonist to heroes, and one of their early ones.

Now I'm not suggesting him as Namor, but Bale and his cut-glass cheekbones has always been 'Namor-esque' to me - if they can get an actor with the same kind of look, yeah, that would work for me.

That's not hard to do though. They gave Angelina Jolie extra angular cheekbones for Maleficent, so they can add prosthetics on someone if they really needed to.

I would also like to see an interpretation of Namor where he looks less human. Like actually give him gill slits in his neck. Rather than feathered wings on his ankles, make them like large fins. Make him actually look like and aquatic being. But at the same time keeping enough of a classic look that he's recognizable to comic fans.

I like that idea. I know it’s silly but part of me was hoping Aquaman would have a science advisor or something to try and figure out how an amphibious human would work

While Aquaman got a first dive of the underwater exploration, I think a Namor film would be good and I think introducing him In Black Panther's sequel as an antagonistic threat to T'Challa that then becomes an ally might be effective.

Both are Kings of unique civilization that have different values on how to oversee their respective kingdoms but at the same time are out of touch.

Namor sees the damage humanity has wrought to ocean's with poultion and waste disposal killing sea life and maybe even his people and is prepared to wage war.

Because the casting of their Atlantean king was so in line with Jonas visually?

Yeah, no beaches in Wakanda - although if we want to hold that idea and if we cant go horizontal, why not go vertical - in that did we ever see the bottom of the Vibranium mine in BP?

They could make it so that it's some kind of huge cavern directly linked to the ocean depths, upon which Namor can have an issue with something resulting from vibranium mining or something etc.

To me, Namor seems more like a character than can be heroic, but also be villainous if another writer wants to go that route while still being convincing. I suppose I’m not too surprised with him allying with Steve and the other Avengers, since he did help out Steve in the All-Winners Squad back in the 1940s:

Well, Namor looks like he got his head stuck in a funnel there. :o

It’s interesting, because earlier on, Namor was drawn with a “more normal-looking” head. I suppose his head was later drawn differently to further emphasize there being a more mutant quality to him.

Even later and for most of his history he's had a normal-shaped head. This is the most extreme his head has looked.

In retrospect, it’s interesting how he’s someone who’s readily willing to wage wars, considering how he saw the horrors of war firsthand in fighting against the Nazis and Japanese troops. I recall that by some accounts, he suffered from nightmares of his wartime service in World War II afterwards.

I feel like somebody that's like half white/half Asian will get cast just to keep that ambigous look he's always had.
