NBC's ''The Blacklist''

Whatever it is, it's hurting my brain trying to figure it out. :(

Ive stopped trying to figure it out. At this point I feel the show has built this up and dragged it out too far. No revelation can possibly live up to this level of secrecy.

But at this point for me Im just tired of this bit of plot dangled in our faces. And Im sick of the weekly previews acting like Liz is going to find out something only to have her find out jack ****.

I agree with this last bit. Time to give it up and move on. :(

So I caught up with the show today. Here's what I think.

1. Reubens was a hoot and honestly, up until Red showed up and looked like he was being ambushed I really thought there wasn't going to be some kind of swerve. I really thought Reubens was on Berlin's payroll. Once Red got there though that's when it being a ruse hit me. They had him dead to rights. No way that happens. Still, throughout the episode I really thought "Mr. Vargas" was indeed a threat. Reubens gave a very cool and layered performance. At first watch Vargas seems very intimidating, but when I watched the episode again, it seemed like now there were little hints that his character was indeed just putting on an act. Still, I would love to get some backstory on him, hell, all of Red's loyal cronies.

2. Parker's character still baffles me. So she IS the wife from that horrible day, with all the blood that Red went on about? Does the time frame match up? Everything seems off about it. It's obvious Parker knows the whole story, but even she doesn't think that Liz is ready or should know the full story yet... only to change her mind as she leaves for parts unknown. By the way, great stuff with Red finding out about her husband's mistress ("City dog." Ha). Reubens killed it again in that scene. Still, I think it's obvious that Parker isn't Liz's birth mom, as she only seemed to recognize one sole surviving daughter.

3. I don't think the Blacklisters so far this season have been terribly interesting, but how Red has used the outcomes of their stories, like with the Malaysian port deal tying into the Dr. Creel, has been cool.

4. I think Stormare is a great match for Spader. These are both two ruthless and cunning men, and it shows. That Berlin teased out so easily that Red is scared of him and is acting out of desperation in the scene in Coney Island illustrated that. I hope he sticks around. Though him with a robot hand might be over the top even for this show.

5. Boone and rest of the cast have settled in nicely, if only the writers could keep things more consistent, or at least remember events on the show and how they affect characters. Ressler chastising Liz at Creel's clinic made me do a double take. Umm... Ressler aren't you the one that was intent on going on a kill crazy rampage last season over your ex? But Liz thinking that it's a hard call to make when balancing children's lives and criminal's lives deserves a verbal smack? Still I am happy that they are remembering things like his trauma and the need for him to be on meds but it affecting his job are nice touches. Cooper is the one to watch. Suddenly he's opening up the black ops book and putting Liz onto the trails of highly classified government programs? Me thinks that dying men want to really secure their place in Heaven. I also think they need to stop using Aram for so much comic relief. I'm not saying that he needs to be stone faced, he can still lighten things, it's just, sometimes the character is to goofy. Let's remember that by this point Aram has seen some ****. Friends dying, assaults, he was in the middle of a terrorist siege at the Post Office. He can be flip or tell a joke, but not necessarily in the nebbishy way they continue to do with him.

6. Okay... did I miss an episode? Where is she with the padlocked door, and the key? Where did any of that come from? I don't remember her getting the keys or what that place is at all. It was an odd way to end the episode.

6 -- I'm with you on the locked door. If they showed it to us before, I certainly missed it. :(

I'm glad I am not the only one that was confused by the ending with Lizzie sitting with the key looking at some padlocked door, I was really sleepy when I watched last weeks ep and had forgotten that Red's wife had been rescued, but I thought I had forgotten more.

Linus Creel was meh in terms of his gimmick but the actor playing him made it work, he's excellent as he as also shown on Suits.

I agree with others that they are doing too much water treading after the excellent way the second half of last season built up and paid off. It feels like they are drawing things out for the wrong reasons and at times are more interested in showing Red as the smartest guy in any room even if the scene doesn't push the story forward.

Thankfully Spader's charisma helps shoulder the shows sluggishness this season and I love Megan Boone as Lizzie, she is really good.

I just checked IMDB and I was right! The promo for next weeks ep shows a girl on a screen with the voice over saying she may be even more important to Red than Lizzie. I thought it looked like Scottie Thompson and it is. :D

I'm guessing she might be Red's daughter who has fallen off the grid, I wouldn't be surprised if she has been turned and recruited by Berlin.

The whole talk that Liz gave to the Dr about what she would do with her husband made me think that its him behind that padlocked door then I remembered last weeks episode when Liz has that dream about Tom who was sporting a beard and it made me think why would Liz dream about Tom with a beard unless he has been hold captive long enough to grow one.

THAT'S an interesting theory.

After a talk over the phone today let me add something... If Tom is behind that door, maybe he isn't in any condition to answer any questions? Maybe he's in a coma? And yes, there are lots of questions of logistics, ect. that would have to be overcome to make this even halfway plausible. Just putting it out there.

Only those who watches The Bridge will get this but maybe Lizzie did to Tom what Fausto did to Eleanor's dad. :wow: :funny:

That would be a really dark place to take Lizzie. I thought the part about threatening to kill herself when she was young over a guy was why the Mossad woman gave Liz her evaluation by Creel and left it out of the report.

Tom's little Tom's! :shock

Man what a disappointing episode last night.

The previews for the next episode is getting annoying with the over hyping voice over since its never that good

Boring episode, I am never a fan of biological outbreak stories though. The woman having some key Red needs seemed very convenient. My concern is that this is gonna end up like The Mentalist where they have mystery hook but no real plan for how it is gonna pan out.

Next week looks better, I'm guessing your guess may be on the money Kaleb.

yeah unfortunately by the time they reveal who is behind the door the episode will end and we will have to wait another week.

Oh you know they are going to wait till the last minute, just like you said. :(

what didn't the red head tell the lead bad guy that led him to off her and himself? that his wife was expecting?

as for what's behind the door. yeah, I'll go with Kaleb. she already has Tom.

I'm on the boat that this tease has gone on long enough. I'm liking the fake Liz and the strip tease though.

I haven't been as pissed as others about the secrets, it will unfold eventually.

I've also enjoyed all of the episodes so far, but especially looking forward to tonight's.

WTF the fall finale is coming up already ?
I was thinking this might happen, they kept putting up ads for that new Catherine Heigel show that begins in three weeks. Figured it was the same time slot.

I miss the good old days of getting 2 episodes 12 or 13 before a fall finale

That episode had a Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Friday the 13th kind of feel about it, with the creepy family and the woods etc...

Suppose, with it being close to Halloween n' all.
