I think they could make a ton of money offering the every game in the library for 3 dollars a pop.

Then 5 dollars for each game for the SNES.

I'm guessing Christmas 2017 we may see a release version 2 with 20-30 more different games. I'm betting the cost to open up the system for expansion would drive the price up another couple of bucks, and they wanted to come in at the $59.99 price point, or thereabouts. But it would be awesome if they did. Include a WiFi module, build an app store that has all the NES games for sale for a few bucks each. I'd pay more than $60 for that! Even more so if it was a SNES version!

Also, heads up, Amazon is getting its first limited shipment on Fri. Will go on sale at 2 pm PST. Even limited to one per customer, expect them to go fast.

 

This has been impossible to find. I went to a Best Buy this morning before they opened and there was already a line.

 

5 minutes left.

Nintendo forked themselves by not having an adequate supply. This is going to be a huge holiday seller for them. They probably underestimated the demand. The impact of their legacy and nostalgia factor hasn't been lost on consumers. They played it a little too cautious. I work at Target and we only had 15 units on hand. A good line of people, about 40-50, were waiting outside a few hours before we opened. Naturally, the unfortunate ones got turned away.

 

it was on the news (normal news outlets )both state side and in Canada that this is like the new furby for Christmas shopping. Every one is after this .

It's the must have gift of the year.

 

I heard Best Buy had 50. Wish I knew this before.

I also heard Nintendo will sell more during Black Friday and December 1st. So hopefully I'll have all the kinks worked out for my buying strategy.

Not at all. This is the same strategy they employed with the Wii. They are creating artificial demand in hopes that people who weren't going to buy one, eventually will when they see it because they'll think it's a hot, rare item.

They are most definitely going to have more shipments like these in the coming weeks until a couple of months where you'll see a bunch in stores.

Nintendo sold 262,961 NES Classic Edition consoles in Japan last week

It’s no secret that Nintendo’s NES Classic Edition is currently quite difficult to find on store shelves. Naturally, the unfulfilled demand has sent people scrambling to eBay, where buyers are paying exorbitant amounts of money to obtain the nostalgia-fueled microconsole.


Nintendo has promised to replenish the retail stock as soon as they can, but in the meantime, a new report from Famitsu has given us an idea of just how many NES Classic Edition consoles are out there. According to the gaming magazine, Nintendo sold 262,961 consoles in Japan during its launch period of November 10th through the 13th. The microconsole is known as the Famicom Classic Edition in Japan, and features slightly different styling from its American and European counterparts.


While this report doesn’t provide worldwide sales numbers for the NES Classic Edition, we can use a little educated guesswork to get a rough estimate. Assuming a roughly equal shipment between all three territories, it’s likely that Nintendo has already sold more than 750,000 NES Classic Edition consoles. And if Nintendo shipped more consoles to North America and Europe, its possible that total worldwide sales for the NES Classic Edition have already topped one million consoles.Read more
