Netflix Adapting 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'

This is some excellent costume work. The head's a little odd, but I'll overlook it due to how spot-on everything else looks.

Oh man! I am so disappointed from the teaser.

No Neil Patrick Olaf :(

You can hear is voice in the background there. But yeah I'd like to see what he looks like.

Still feel Warburton was somewhat miscast, but I'm pleased with his performance. He's not using Putty voice.

As for no Olaf, I'm certain we'll get a full trailer between now and January. This is just a teaser riffing off the narrator's role in the story.

So excited for this. Warburton actually impressed me a little bit. Hopefully they deliver better than the movie did.

The teaser seemed to nail the books better than the movie did. Really looking forward to this as I grew up reading the books.

Harris tweeted a pic of Captain Sham. Handler tweeted one of Orwell and Justice Strauss.

Everything looks perfect. Weirdly enough Catherine O'Hara who played Strauss in the film is playing Orwell. Don't mind it.

It just doesn't feel different enough from the movie for me.

Which isn't to say I won't like it, but I just wish they took a decidedly different approach.

The movie isn't bad. Structurally it's wrong but it just shouldn't have been a movie. Besides Carrey overacting at times, and a few things here and there, they really nailed the feel and spirit of it. Down to the Snicket narration and the Littlest Elf stuff. The production design alone is incredible and felt exactly like the books. So it's really hard to do something different or else it might become too different. Usually with a bad adaptation they get near everything wrong. The movie is a weird example where they got the superficial stuff so damn right. Plus Silberling tried to evoke Burton and Sonnenfeld but it came up short. But I could see where this potentially could be just like the movie.

Sonnenfeld should really fill in what was missing and elevate it. Bryan Fuller could have done a great job with this too come to think of it.

But I really liked the trailer. Harris feels more like Olaf. There's humor but it's not over the top. Olaf is tongue and cheek, sardonic humor and that seems to be what we're getting. I can't wait for this. I never thought I'd be watching this in a post apocalyptic setting but I'll take what I can get.

Not sure if I'm digging Olaf's look yet. Carrey still looked like a person, Harris looks like a mutant.

I think I liked this one better. They got it down to even the sense of humor. So far so good! Harris looks great. Funny but not in a clownish way and trying to go for the laugh like Carrey did.

Coming this Friday and I'm ****ing stoked.

Please. Don't disappoint me again. My heart can't handle it.

Hopefully can watch 2 episodes tonight. Planning to break it up by 'book.'

Disclaimer: I've only just recently read the first book. And going from that to seeing how it appears NPH is going to portray Olaf...it feels inappropriately OTT. But I'll give it a chance.

I'm seriously hoping he's not goofy. He can be funny as long as he isn't trying to go for the laugh and play it straight.

But you're in for a treat with those books. It's probably my favorite book series ever.

The series really is hard to adapt and Olaf is pretty difficult cause he is over the top and there's a lot of comedy in that, especially later in the series, but he shouldn't be outright goofy.

Really I think it would've been better if they had ditch live action for stop motion animation à la Coraline.

Well keep in mind Jim Carey was also ott playing Olaf as well. I've been hearing that nph actually is more faithful he may be a little goofy but people say he does come off as scary as well so we have to wait and see.
