Fantasy Netflix's The Witcher - General Discussion Thread

Found this on Netflix Witcher Reddit:

On Friday, 16th November, Andrzej Sapkowski was interviewed by Clarin, an Argentinian news site, about his books and the upcoming TV series. The interview has been summarized in English on witcher.tv.

Sapkowski has been involved with the newest television series- working with executive producer Lauren Hissrich on the concept and creation of the characters and the world itself. He describes Lauren as “a true professional,” and is optimistic about project. As for Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia? It seems he is also met with approval from the author, who mentions, “I approve, I believe in his gifts as an actor.”

In regards to any future works, there seems to be more adventures in the world of Geralt, but would not go beyond that. It seems fan of the books will have to eagerly wait for more details.

Kinda annoying that we haven’t gotten any leaked set photos. I remember we got a lot for Doom Patrol.

For the most part they'll be on sets or locations that are probably quite a ways away from any populated areas, I'm not surprised we haven't gotten set photos.

Is something known about the OST ? just because i hope w will hear Hunt or be Hunted from the Witcher 3 in there

Oh it's definitely been a few weeks.

We only got pictures of him dressed as geralt 2 weeks ago as a costume test. You sure they haven't just been building sets, as i can't see anything on google saying they've begun filming?

The picture came out the first day of filming. So yeah, it’s been a couple of weeks.

After FINALLY finishing the last book, The Lady of the Lake (I know, I know) I hope to GOD they do take the games continuation in some form.

(Btw, I mean last book in the saga).

If they were to ever do that, they'd probably have to get a separate license on the game rights from CDPR. It just doesn't seem realistic.

Sort of like how the Hannibal series didn't have the rights to adapt any of the Silence of the Lambs material. Or I recall at least it was like that.

This is a show based on the books not the games. If they wanted to adapt the game material and continue it from an ending point on the TV series, they'd have to get those rights as well.

I felt the same way after finishing the book series. It was such a piss poor ending to an otherwise good story.

The games while taking liberties ends it all MUCH bettet despite it having a few misfires that dont really bring it down.

They can also just change the ending for the series if they want, like the Watchmen film did.
