Fantasy Netflix's The Witcher - General Discussion Thread

I could do without zombie dark phoenix geralt atthe end but holy crap!!!!!!!! Wow!!! Loved it! Yen is amazing and i love the expanded backstory already.

Looks good... but... there’s not a lot of Henry Cavill as The Witcher in a trailer about a series called The Witcher starring Henry Cavill.

Zombie Geralt is straight from the books.
Its just that, even when something is described a certain way on the page, mind still does its own thing and imagines it differently.
Its a minor nitpick anyway, im 100% onboard.

Surprisingly decent trailer that, plenty of stuff going on other than just Geralt which is good, effects are good enough for this level and most pleasing is the overall dark tone thats been set for the whole thing. Only complaint is Geralt is a little too "stacked" but not a biggy and Cavill was always going to be that way, wish we got to hear about more from him but overall its giving me more hope than I had initially at least.

That's how Witchers look when they take potions. In the Witcher verse the potions they take are toxic and poison them but due to their mutations it wont kill them. Just makes them look like...

And when a Witcher looks like that they are about to tear some **** up.

Theyre actually right to show yen and ciri are as important. And 'the witcher' may not strictly mean geralt ;)

I was preparing myself for the show in late November/December.

April just seems so far away!

I know, i know, but im just not a fan of how it looks here. Im actually thrilled that thats the only thing i can complain about haha

Is it ok to be exited about the series even I I just played the third game?

Seriously. He speaks... once, I think? WTF?

Fine, but let’s also consider that there’s something weird when your show has only one name actor and he speaks the LEAST out of everyone in the trailer. And it’s not like this trailer was light on dialogue. I think the production value of the show looks great and it was cool seeing that giant spider at the end; I’m glad they aren’t shying away from the fantastical elements. But I’m starting to think Cavill might truly be a lost cause. If his performance in this falls flat, maybe he should give up acting and just go compete on American Ninja Warrior or something.

Yeah, I liked his toxic look at the end lol.

A few things...

- Seeing the silver chain and knowing they are adapting that story, made me very happy.

- They changed Ciri's story almost completely it seems. Which kind of annoys me right off the bat.

- Are they introducing the Wild Hunt right off the bat?

- Yen's origin. Interesting.

- A lot of oddly small rooms.

- I don't think I ever saw two swords. That's is a Witcher's goddamn signature.

- The medallion is blah.

- Potion face. :mrk:

- Bad CGI monster.

I like how Cavill is selling it based on the game, while the trailer only mentions the books. :hehe:

Cavill isn't a good actor. The less he speaks the better. They hired him for the looks (and star status). Chalotra will be showing everyone how it's done.

I’m not here for Cavill and his buff-ass body - his wig doesn’t look too great in some shots, and I don’t like zombie Geralt. But the story looks great, and Anya and Freya look like breakout stars. Cavill is just always the same.

I think Cavill is a decent actor, who works really well in the right role. This is probably not the right role, but we will see.
