I really don't get how a single season of The Witcher can cost that much. It's never looked that good, especially compared to say Andor or Game of Thrones, if those are the high watermarks for biggest TV production values.

Comparatively, I've always thought Rings of Power looked awful and never as much as its supposedly huge price tag.

I mean how do they spend more AFTER losing their biggest star in Henry Cavill? Shouldn't that cause an automatic budget cut? Liam Hemsworth isn't even a B-Lister.

Speaking realistically, Henry Cavill shouldn't have commanded that high a salary either.

He reportedly got $400K per episode for the first season, so $3.2 million. Seems pretty reasonable for him coming off the DCEU and just had a huge role in Mission Impossible Fallout. I imagine he got pay increases for seasons 2 and 3, but not sure. I read in Parade that he got $8 million for Season 2, but I'm not sure if that's true.

Okay, after that Trailer i realize what bothers me about Hemsworth...he looks too nice to be Geralt.
He doesnt look mean enough, rough enough, not stoic enough for Geralt.
Cavill paired with his stiff acting, worked as Geralt...Hemsworth feels like he has to force himself to look mean.

Other than that, i liked the Trailer.
Could be in terms of visuals neat enough.
Like i said, i take it for what it is...an adaption that gives itself a lot of room for Interpretation and therefore im sure i can enjoy this.

Yeah, nothing against Hemsworth personally but he just isn't convincing me here. Hopefully in the show itself he can.

Decent trailer to be fair but Hemsworth and Fishburne look horribly miscast. Hopefully Freya Allen can carry me through this as Ciri and Anya as Yen, who have at least being consistently good throughout. Lot on their shoulders now though and its been a sinking ship for a while.

Maybe they thought about recasting Cavill after season 1 already?
Could be that he got the year wrong, that strikes me as an easy slip up considering how long preparing for a role, shooting and the release can be.
Like, look at it...the show started 2019, we are now 2025 and it enters season 4.

Just 8 episodes, having to wait years between seasons and all that.

I mean, the Duffer bros thinks its a bad idea for shows to come out on a regular schedule. And everyone loves them....

A lot of it is chasing the "prestige" level of shows. Namely, big stars. And big stars do not want to be tied to a show for even half a year. And Cavill was clearly doing movies during that time. I understand a bit of the showrunners and network hesitancy, because putting a season 2 into production before 1 is out is a big risk. But 3 before 2 isn't nearly as bad. Hell, its worked for Star Trek.

That "let's f-cking move" was honestly what I needed to stop watching this show. Without that, I might've still pushed through, but that random action hero delivery finally killed it.
