Never Back Down

I don't see how.

It's not supposed to be a realistic adaptation or a how to on MMA fighting. It is inspired by it.

Yes.

Hey its cool your an extra in it, regardless of its potential for crapdom, but I don't think any amount of explanation will curve the first impressions the trailer and the whole generic premise has given off.

Especially not for hardcore MMA fans. I'd just love to see a mumbling drunk Chuck Liddell pop up in a scene and lay a beatdown on the pretty boys.

Majik is obviously defending a project that he was involved with. I don't blame him. Although, I've been involved with fun but crappy projects myself, never to the extent of a major motion picture..however.

I get it, hopefully he won't be too offended.
Maybe our grievances are premature, but this really seems like a thoughtless movie.

It reminds me of every teen duel off type movie... Whether its a motorcross movie, a racing one, a dancing one,... It just has that MTV feel to it that makes me want to puke.

It is a generic movie though.

lol They didn't put the best parts of the fights in the trailer for obvious reasons. It's one of those things where you actually have to see it in order to say if it's a fair adaptation of MMA fighting style. Because I gotta say, during filming I didn't hear anyone say anything about it trying to be MMA style, just that it was an underground fight club that certain high schoolers take part in.

I'll defend it where I find it necessary, but I did have gripes with it while filming too. Maybe I'll post some set pics. Most of them are just of the fighters taking a break between shots.

It looks like they took Fight Club, removed the message, cleaned it up, and threw in a terrible love story. It looks like a horrible, horrible movie, full of cliches and bad music.

I'm not gonna lie, you are most likely going to see cliches, but every high school and high school movie has them.

As for the love story, I saw no chemistry between the actors in person, but maybe it will look better on-screen.

And I like the music from the trailer.:o

i'm sure it's one heck of an experience though. i hope that the actors weren't '*****ebags' of the LA variety. Working 'kinda' in the biz, there's tons of them. At the sametimes, there's tons of good geniune people too.

I only found one diva moment, when an actor had the AC turned off in a club with over 200 ppl because the actor felt cold. Not gonna say which actor, but it ended up making 10 people faint/almost faint from lack of air circulation.

But other than that, they were pretty awesome to chat with. No snobbery from them.

Actually felt a lot more snobbery from the crew.

The problem with action/martial arts films is you need a charismatic lead. If you look at films like Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Lionheart, Marked For Death etc. they worked because Van Damme and Seagal are charismatic. They may be horrible actors in the traditional sense, but they have something going for them which in turn can carry the entire flick.

I would also argue that it would be difficult to realistically portray MMA in a martial arts film. For every great fight with the likes of GSP, Fedor, Silva etc. etc. there are ten boring fights that involve stalling, circling, weak grappling etc. Sensationalism is what makes the films fun to watch.

How did we ever go from this:

to this:

?

We need a new batch of action/martial arts stars. These little girls we have running around today just aren't cutting it.
LOL,btw hunter whats this :redbelt movie you mentioned??:ninja:

Yeah, something tells me the girl's not going to comment on how she hasn't been f***ed like that since grade school. :woot:

This movie comes out on my birthday and I'm pretty sure seeing it is gonna be the best gift I get this year.

No.:csad:

Though throughout filming, when the director needed random high schoolers to spout a line or something, he randomly picked who he thought looked right for it.
Oh, you're in the movie? That's awesome!

But as the great Gary Marshall once said, you shouldn't call yourself an 'extra' when asked, you are a "background performer":o:oldrazz:

LOL

Yep, I'm not in the trailer, but from where I was placed while filming, it'd be hard for them to edit me out of the movie unless they cut frames or used cgi.
The mansion party and the club locations were the most fun to film at.

lol Maybe that's why most the extras on set were snobbier than the actual actors; They took Garry Marshall's saying too far.:oldrazz:

I really don't understand why Djimon Honsou is in this. Seriously Mr. Honsou, fire your agent. Please.

:csad:

Sadly, Hounsou is one of the few actors I didn't get to meet.:csad:

He's one of my favorite actors, I couldn't believe he was in this when I first saw the trailer.

Every time the TV Spot trailer for the piece of **** comes on I laugh. Especially when they kick into that weaksauce emo nu-metal rock song at the end that was hot like 4 years ago (you know that "back awwwn, I'll take yooooou ooon" one)

The commercial is jokes lol.
