New Avengers? How about New Joe Fridays?

I hope he isn't doing one of his sick twisted jokes! :(

Indeed ..... I would prefer if Ellis would have done Superman or the Sentry, but you can't have it all. Thor will have to suffice. Ellis has the potential to completely eclispse Jurgens work.:)

Imagine a Thor with the Badass Attitude of Elijah snow or Midknighter, the power of Jenny Sparks and the strength of Apollo.

Nice!

JQ: Well, like the launch of anything with the word “New” in it, I figured we needed to have some ultra collectable digital alternate covers or I like to call the iCovers. I was lucky enough to get some of the greats in the biz to take a little time out of their day to do up a piece for the return of the weekly Q&A. There are nine covers in total, here’s a list of the incredible artists who contributed: Salvador Larroca, Chris Bachalo, Mark Bagley, Frank Cho, Brandon Peterson, Greg Horn, Leinil Yu, Johnny Romita Jr., and Alex Maleev.

JQ: Like the Avengers, the core Marvel Heroes, I feel, are having a renaissance of sorts. For as long as I can remember being in comics, the X-Men ruled the Marvel Universe, the core Marvel U is now giving X a run for its money. I’m really happy with the way the core Marvel family of books is reading looking these days. You have Brubaker and Epting on Cap, Bru and Larke on Daredevil, the Knauf’s with Zircher on Iron Man, Pak and Pagulayan on Hulk, Bendis , Deodato and company on Avengers and Ellis on… whoops, almost let that out by mistake. Sorry, what was I saying again? Oh, yeah, I’m thrilled with the way the core Universe is shaping up.

I hope he's not putting Ellis on Thor again. :(

I think he's slighly told us that Warren Elis is going to be the new writer of Thor. I nearly pissed my pants, with joy when i read that. :)

Hmm...? That'll be interesting if true.

I'd rather Ellis did Ironman, I was digging his take on Tony even though it took forever to get the book out.

I don't get the hate for Joe Q- I LIKE that he has his own opinions and doesn't back down when *****ed at by angry fanboys. I'd hate it if he just folded like a deck of cards every time a fan disagreed with a decision he made, even if I don't always agree with it.

And I also can't remember the last time an e-i-c did a regular column like this to keep in touch with the fans, so he must value your imput somewhat

I don't agree with all of his opinions, but I don't really have anything against him.

Yea,all this I hate JQ business is pretty immature and lame if you ask me.THe guy clearly has a passion for this business and even though his opinions may clash with many fanboys,it's not like he's supposed to conform to what the majority wants. If that were the case,we wouldn't have books like Young Avengers,a book which was trashed so much before it even got released.

The man has made some serious ballsy moves.Hate is a little harsh in describing your feelings for someone who simply has a difference in opinion.

No other EIC's kept in touch with fans, eh? Then I guess all those Soapbox and Bullpen Bulletin columns were pigments of my imagination, huh?

And by th' way, anybody who thinks the Spider-Totem idea should earn JQ any praise is a friggin' moron who obviously doesn't get it.

I respect his love for comics as a whole and his willingness to make ballsy (if not stupid) moves, but he just rubs me the wrong way sometimes.
Nothing personal, though.

it's not that his opinions clash with the fans, it's that his opinions clash with previously established character development.

Heh, you do love your blanket statements and generalizations don't you? 'If you disagree with my point of view then you're a moron'. Brilliant.:o

I think Joe Q is a passionate man that absolutely loves what he does, it's apparent in most of anything he says or does. The thing that seems to get him a hard time most of the time is that he's more of a 'mover and shaker', a Renaissance man if you will. And just as the time period it's named for, new ideas were either wholly embraced or completely rejected by those preferring the old way of things. The manner in which Joe works, there isn't any real change without breaking some old standards and traditions. Is this approach the best? That's up in the air but it's definitely not the only way, since we've had change before without effectively erasing history.

Heh, much like Bendis, you either love him or hate him usually based on what your stance is on continuity and comic book standards.

Warren Ellis already wrote Thor and it wasn't very good.

I've heard this aswell .... which issues did he write ? :)

Not usually, but when it comes to the Spider-Totem I'd hafta say so.

Same here, he obvisously loves working in comics, but he makes some really bone headed choices.

I'd rather he go back to drawing on a regular basis, the guy's art kicks major ass.

Not every idea is gonna work out fine people.

Im sure some things that sound cool in your head turn out complete dump when they are in the finished product. And vice versa (ie Marvel Zombies sounded REALLY desperate and stupid, b ut it turned out pretty damn fantastic).

That's just the way it goes. Some ideas work, some don't. Only way you ever find out is by trying new things, and I hope they never stop trying new things or the titles will get stagnent (dont get me wrong not doing new stuff for the sake of it, but sometimes you just need to do something different).

Change is a scary thing for fandom, it always has been, but I’ve always said…

If you take a look at every single watershed moment in comics history, they all have one thing in common, change.

That change can be radical or a change to the status quo, but change is always at its heart.
Such bullsht.

Change is a good thing to him when it shocks and confounds the readers, and it's a terrifying thing when it introduces any sort of lasting evolution to the status quo.

If he meant a single word of what he said up there, we wouldn't have had the Xorneto fckup and the unprecedented series of retcons and retreads he forced on the X-writers post-Morrison, to say nothing of the utter historical rehash that was House of M. If he meant a single word, he wouldn't have such a mad-on against Peter's marriage. If he meant a single word, he wouldn't have manhandled Marvel into a cyclical state of retcons and character assassinations.
