We don't know much, but we know that they're coming this Fall. According to DVD Town, Warner Bros. has said in a press conference that they will release two new Batman collections this fall.

Batman Begins Limited Collectors Edition Box Set will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray and Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology will be released in the Blu-Ray format as well. The anthology will be updated to include Batman Begins, which isn't available on Blu-Ray as of yet.

We have no other details to divulge at this point, but it seems that a fall release would put these collections to be in line with a DVD/Blu-Ray release of The Dark Knight, and that a Blu-Ray version of The Dark Knight might be included in the anthology as well. We'll have more on this story as it comes to us.

I'm getting the updated Batman Anthology Blu-Ray.

I've been waiting for WB to switch to Blu-Ray. Now I gets my Batman in Hi-Def!

Also, since WB is switching, the Matrix Collection and all Superman films will be on Blu-Ray as well. Glad I didn't spend $ on an HD player.

I can't wait for that Batman Begins Blu-Ray. I think I'll pass on the older movies until they're availible ala carte though (and in a BOGO sale, preferably).

Blah! Placing Batman Begins into the anthology set is a horrible idea!

The Anthology is Burton/Schumacher, Nolan's series is entirely of it's own. No reason to put Begins in there, it will only confuse the general audience even more into thinking it's a prequel. And if that's the case, they may as well throw the Adam West film in there too!

That's not even to mention, once TDK is on Blu-Ray it'll be by itself while Begins is packaged with the Schumacher/Burton films...

I'm sure BB will also be offered as a single Blu-Ray. They put out all of the Die Hard movies on Blu-Ray, even though they also had a collection available with all 4.

Now, with the Spider-Man movies, the only way to get SM1 and 2 was to purchase the trilogy. But the reason for this was that they gave away so many copies of SM3 (included with PS3s and such) that they had to sell the trilogy. Had they sold SM1 & 2 individually, there would've been a whooooooole lot of SM3s sitting around.

That's a good point, Socko :cwink:

We should make a letter of complaint :hehe:

Ugh...why do they always have to release new versions of stuff?

Oh yeah, to get more money than God.

Why do I get the feeling this news is only gonna throw us in the waves of Nolan VS Burton yet again?

I like this! Hopefully we'll get some new features on it!

Personally, I'm glad I'll be able to watch B89 and BR in hi-def.

And God has waaaaaaay more money than anyone else. Good luck trying to catch up to him, what with all the tithing and stuff... :cwink:

Because everything does that. You've learnt it from experience :yay:

Only thing I wanna get is the standard DVD version of the BB: LCEGS.

I'll buy the limited edition for blu-ray.
I'll also be getting the anthology but Batman & Robin is not welcome in my home. I'll ask some random dude walking by if he wants my B&R right after my purchase at best buy hahaha.

Wow, now it looks like I'll have to buy a Blu-Guay player. :cmad: :woot:

I'm a HD-DVD follower, but ever since my fav movie studio left to the Blu side, it's hard not to follow them.

A Begins SE DVD was way over due!

More from thedigitalbits.com:

The 3rd Quarter will offer Superhero fans something exciting: a Batman Begins: Limited Collector's Edition Gift Set on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, as well as a Batman Anthology box set of all the feature film titles on Blu-ray Disc. These are obviously timed to coincide with the DVD and Blu-ray release of The Dark Knight. Additional superhero releases are TBA.

In terms of new titles in the year ahead, you can obviously look forward to the DVD and Blu-ray debut of such theatrical release films as The Dark Knight, Speed Racer, Get Smart, Where the Wild Things Are, 10,000 B.C. and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price, later in 2008 and early 2009.

More from DB:

The Batman Begins: Ultimate Collector's Edition will be released in Blu-ray this year, and it will have everything that was on the HD-DVD release and possibly more. Warner is at work on bringing the rest of the Batman live-action films (from their previous Batman Anthology on DVD) to Blu-ray, but that might take longer. Rest assured, though, they are in the works.

JokerLedger, I'll take it. There's nothing wrong with passing up a free DVD, even if it is the worst Batman movie ever.

I can't wait for Begins to come to Blu-Ray. I've been excited since it was first announced.
