Comics New Excalibur Question

when did CC return to X Men, and what has it been like? I see that mostly everyone doesn't like it, but why exactly?

I always loved his Excalibur stories, especially in light of all the grimness in his X Men

he resurrects characters to much and his stories are extremely boring.

It isn't so much that he resurrects characters too much, but that he resurrects them without any explanation. Usually, when someone comes back from the dead, they explain it in an elaborate way, like "it wasn't me, but a robot constructed by Factor-3 that was made for the purpose of fooling Lorna Dane into thinking I was her father."

With Psylocke, we got "I'm back, and my powers are stronger for some unknown reason."

With Magneto, we got "What? People think I'm dead? Why, I've been here the whole time!" Meanwhile, Chuck Austen wrote an issue of X-Men where Xorn's brother shows up and says "that wasn't Magneto. That was my twin brother." Fans are still trying to put the pieces together.

okay but i'm still going to buy the first arc and if it's whack i won't but the rest of the series

It maybe Claremont, but he's not writing characters that he's been dealing with for 30+years. Its not Storm, its not Nightcrawler, its not Logan - its a bunch of Mutants, some sometime-x-men, some vaguely affiliated, some who've barely met the x-men. But only (kinda Dazzler) are Xavier dream followers in the direct sense. Juggernaut and Pete Wisdom are certainly not going to be spouting about responsibility and the dream, and struggling and things. And Brian is going to be quite distant or brutal for a while due to the loss of Meggan, so he wont be idealistic and whatnot - the only one I can see doing that to a degree is Nocturne, and thats only cos shes from a world where the x-men have been around longer and she's grown up with 'the dream' being drilled into her.

This might be good y'know

I'll give the first issue a try, because I love the characters and Claremont's recent weaknesses lye in him going on too long. The first half of X-Treme for example was great.

Is it supposed to be a British chapter of X-Men or a completely different entity?

Iam really not sure of that I just know that it is going to be abunch ragtag barely X-men characters who barely know anything about each other only that they all worked for or used to be an x-men, kind of like the real world but they'll be fighting evil also.

Juggernaut and Nocturne know one another and have worked together.
Juggernaut and Dazzler are familiar as well. He's a big fan of her music.
Captain Britain has met Juggernaut a couple of times as well.
Captain Britain has worked alongside Pete Wisdom.

They all connect in some way to one another.

This made me laugh for some reason.
It was a pretty funny issue too, when they fought. They start to fight but Juggy is protesting since he likes her music and is actually more interested in an autograph, and than proceeds to 'killing' her (he thought she was dead but she wasn't).

I love it when characters confess to liking Dazzler's music. Juggy, getting jiggy with that disco music.

I mean they never been on ateam together besides wisdom and the captain

yay cap. britian! yay a kind of old excalibur team again (sorta, least brians in it and theyre in england)!
i know where kitty, rachel, and kurt are but where is meggan? she was one of my favorites.

I think what it might be based on is the decimation event resulting in the loss of the x-corporation. If you look at the cover of one of the decimation issues (might be the Gen M one or something), there is a skyscraper with a giant 'X' at the top being either demolished or destroyed. I think the 198 event and decimation wont be about there only being 198 mutants left in the world (there are more accident superheroes than that I bet), but the x-corporation comes to an end , and thus there is no european presence of x-men.

Did you read the issue of X-Men Unlimited (32 or 33 or something like that) when they did a "Behind The Music" parody of Dazzler? It was a pretty fun issue. My favorite was when they got Dr. Doom on camera going "Baaah, bested by Dazzler? Doom has no comment!"

Hulk is apparently a big fan of Dazzler too! :hulk:

I never actually did pick that up, but plan too. Sounds pretty cool.

Pete Wisdom Rocks. Sure he started off as another one of Warren Ellis John constantine knock offs but he really came into his own in the Counter X era of X Force. His a intresting character who isn't always the superhero yes man. He has killed people before a whole town once I think and he has a bit of a dodgy past.

Psylocke's ressurrection WILL be explained. Just give it some more time. There have already been some clues. CC likes to drag out his plots...good or bad you decide.
