New for 2005: DC Animated Showcase!

Babs Gordon said:
ohhhh. actually i didn't mean to volunteer to do nightwing if i did. all yours! just pm me when the time is come to do some thinking/writing. this should be really interesting :)

That's okay Babs, I'll help you out with just Birds of Prey. I'll give you a private message when it comes time for Birds of Prey, which is part of the Batman Family of stories, to be showcased.

Kenny.

Because of the high number of episode ideas posted on this thread, the premiere date of DC Animated Showcase has been moved up to January 3rd, 2005 with the premiere of Nightwing: The Animated Mini-Series!

OKAY FOLKS!!!! Since I can't wait any longer, I'm going to give you DC fans a couple of sneak previews of our DC Animated Showcase series, which will premiere officially on January 3rd!

This sneak preview features the Leaguers that really need their own showcase shows done right! No need for production info here for now.

Episode One: DC Showcase: J'onn J'onzz, Manhunter from Mars

J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter (Carl Lumbly) gets his first real showcase episode, as he is being interviewed by an inquisitive Garfield Logan (Greg Cipes) of Young Justice at his home in Opal City. Thrill to the real story of the alien being who would become the most interesting and often-ignored heroes in the DC pantheon! From his relationship with his family to the brutal war with the mysterious invaders that led to his 500-year sleep and subsequent arrival on Earth in the JL ep "Secret Origins," It's the shapeshifting green man from Mars' time in the spotlight in this special sneak-preview episode!

Episode Two: DC Showcase: Flash, The Fastest Man Alive!

Taking certain liberties with the often-confusing Flash origin, this is the story of a young man named Wallace "Wally" West (Michael Rosenbaum), who at age 13 was visiting his uncle, crime scene investigator Barry Allen (John Wesley Shipp), in Central City when he accidentally engulfed himself in some mysterious chemicals. But, the reaction to the chemicals opened a gateway into the Speed Force, which gave him the power of superhuman speed! Thus, the true story of the Flash is born, as told to his brother Bart (Matt Valencia) by Wally himself!

Episode Three: DC Showcase: The Legacy of the Green Lantern Corps

From Abin Sur to Kyle Rayner, Guest writer and executive producer of DCUAnimated's Green Lantern animated series, Kryptcom, thrills us to one of his Green Lantern series from his website! Plus, my own take on a Green Lantern story featuring the possible future of a girl named Jenna Shayera Stewart (Christina Milian), the daughter of John and Shayera Hol Stewart! Now, that's a Elseworlds story if there ever was one!

Episode Four: DC Showcase: Wonder Woman - The Veronica Cale Affair

Since her origin was pretty much told in the original run of Justice League, we're giving Diana (Susan Eisenberg) a first-rate solo Showcase episode, as she must deal with a powerful new businesswoman named Veronica Cale (Lynda Carter)! And she has assembled an army of skilled assassins and female metahumans with one goal in mind: Defeat Wonder Woman at all costs!

Episode Five: DC Showcase: Green Arrow: Brick House!

In a story ripped out of the current comics continuity and set before he joined the Justice League, Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow (Kin Shriner), finds himself dealing with a dangerous new crimelord named Brick (Lance Henriksen), a metahuman so powerful he could rip even Blockbuster to shreds! And when Brick looks to take control of Star City by assassinating its mayor, this dirtbag better be the one saying "Ahhh!" when Green Arrow gets finished with him!

I would love to see a Booster Gold and Blue Beetle episode, and throw them together with Fire and Ice and you have a classic in the making. These four were great in the JL/JLE/JLI comics and would be super perfect in a cartoon!

Hey Techno Bat, thanks for those ideas dude. Those are the kinds of stories that I'm interested in myself. Look for them in the official run of the series on January 3rd.

Your welcome Kenny...I can't wait to read what you have in store for us. Do we check back with this thread or will you start a new thread when you have started with the stories?

Techno Bat, I'm going to do something a little different, and start the series in the same thread. There is no need for a new thread in 2005. Check back with this thread for the start of the series.

Also, like in Marvel Spotlight, each character gets five episodes each, with a special segment called "The Brave and the Bold" appearing every fifth segment! So look for it!

June quickly makes an impression on not only Zatanna Zatara, but someone her own age - Supergirl (Nicholle Tom), who wants to invite the little enchantress to the JL satellite city to meet the Justice League! But, when June starts tapping into dark mystical forces that are affecting the balance of the universe, It'll be up to Zatanna and Supergirl to stop their new friend at all costs!

Episode Nine: DC Showcase: Vixen: Night of the Elementrix

Vixen (Gina Torres) gets her own solo showcase episode where she must utilize her animal abilities against the Elementrix (Sarah Carter), an evil model last seen on Young Justice TAS who has the same powers as a certain Leaguer named Metamorpho! But, Mari may need the help of Metamorpho himself, especially if she is going to protect his wife, fellow model Sapphire Mason (Danica McKellar) from Urania Blackwell's vendetta against both women!

Episode Ten: DC Showcase: Young Justice Unlimited

Nightwing and Batgirl (Tara Strong) guest stars in this special Justice League Unlimited/Young Justice spinoff which finds Dick and Barbara meeting with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to discuss turning the former Gateway Academy (devastated in the final episode of Young Justice TAS) into a brand-new underground training facility connected to the Tower of Justice, and also the formation of a brand-new version of YJ called Young Justice Unlimited, where a brand-new batch of teen heroes will be trained under Nightwing, Batgirl, and the former YJers - now called the Titans! Guess where Supergirl's gonna be booted to next by the League!

Let's get a Suicide Squad series going! :D

The roster I'd like to see would have Killer Frost, Deadshot, Solomon Grundy, Parasite, Major Force, and maybe Clayface.

I'm not sure if it would be too appropriate for kids though. Especially with the word "suicide" in the very title. Meh, whatever.
