Superman Returns New found respect for routh

Yes i bought the dvd and i have to say routh really did give it his all in terms of traning i bought the 2 disk dvd which shows routh in the gym and i have to say he really was going for it. Theres a bit in the dvd when the custume designer says routh shouldnt get any bigger,through out the dvd i really started to dislike that designer but anyway go brandon.

lol the film still sucks to me i just love certain scences like the plane rescue, the special edition is cool it shows the whole process from before singer and co even got hired by warner it shows them in hawai going over the script. It also shows Brandons screen test and you get to see him in the gym and shirtless swiming about. And there are some deleted scences as well.

i REEEAALLY hope brandon has a successful career ahead of him. there was so much hype around him before, and now, thanks to singer, the ball dropped (somewhat). that has to be so dissappointing.

Yep he had a few franchise films to choose from before hand and now it looks like he is in negotations to be in the next "Harold and Kumar goes to white castle 2". God I hope he can pull himself out of this slump.

The main reason I like Brandon is I know whats in his head and he speaks his mind freely. He knows what the fans want and lurks Bluetights boards for fan ideas and constructive critisism.

Above all, he seems to be a fan of Superman himself.

The actor playing the role needs to be a fan.

I gotta say dude that I respect that even though you didn't like the film your honest that you think that people like Brandon Routh seriously went out of their way to do a good job( or try and do a good job depending on who you ask)

brandon can become on of hte gratest actos and still have a cameo in kumars movies.

I hate returns and still do but out of the whole experience i never once hated brandon, i don think a lot of the cats were miscasted like bosworth that was just a big no no. The best lois lane would have been that chic from lost.

Routh was alright as both Clark Kent & Superman. The movie however could have used a lot more action & a better villain/super-villain. If WB wants to get more people's butt's in the theaters to watch the movies then Superman needs a much bigger challenge than just Lex Luthor in every movie.

I was going to make a thread like this as after watching both DVD discs.

I did like Superman Returns but there where things that bugged me about it which I wont go into as it has been talked about to death on these boards. At the end of the day I thought Routh did a fantastic job with filling Superman's shoes/boots and he did seem like the perfect person for the job.

I can't imagine any other actor doing this role at this time so good work Brandon!!

Also he seemed like a pretty genuine and likeable person.

I don't hate Routh or blame his poor performance totally on him. The movie was poorly directed and just about everyone of the core characters such as Lois, Lex, Perry and Jimmy were portrayed wrong.

Yeah, after seeing him in the gym he was pretty big and that stupid suit made him look thinner. It was the cut of the suit that thinned him out. They need to change it for the next one. Put the belt up a bit, get rid of all the dumb small S's, and those dumb lines.

It seems any of the costume designers that work with Singer just don't get it. Superman is an icon you do not mess with!

heh, a slump? I enjoyed SR,it wasnt great but wasnt cause of Roths performance(lack of action). I dont consider an actor who has one bad movie to be in a slump,but each to their own.
what other movies has he done? Hes definately not a house hold name,before SR. I'm hopin this movie boosted his stock to be in other films as I thought he did a decent job with what he was given.
