NEW full TRAILER!!!

....the Sin City trailer was the same and that didn't stop people from going to see it.
Yes, but Sin City was a very different type of film that The Spirit will be. Sin City focused on multiple stories, making it nearly impossible to really flesh one out in a trailer. The Spirit is one story.

well that still doesn't mean he couldn't give this movie its own look.

...well, in your mind what should be its own look? To look like Warren Beatty's Dick Tracy, maybe? Maybe it should have looked like Tim Burton's moody toned Batman films, hmm? What look do you have in mind, exactly?

The Sin City trailer never did specify that there were 3 stories.

'Hater' chiming in... :oldrazz:

I've waited a little bit before posting because I want to word this based on my thoughts rather than based on my reaction.

I'm gonna give credit where credit is due.

There are things that really hit the mark, and deserve acknowledgment.

The look on Denny's face when Sand drops the towel is spot on Eisner. As a matter of fact, that whole scene plays very well... just so long as the audience doesn't see any more of Mendez's body than they do in the trailer.

In spite of the fact that I would prefer the actual suit and hat color, he does appear to translate well on screen in the brief shots he appears in, and the post team seems to have dropped some minor blue tinting on the suit in shots.

The girls are way overused, but look good in their roles. Denny's main problem is his feminine woes, and so I'm glad it is a main plot point, and the scenes look good, however, I would like to see a Spirit trailer that focuses on the point that he actually fights crime.

Here's one thing that stood out and it is both a praise and a concern...

I think the shot of Denny being spit out of a woman's mouth is very, very WWII era pulp, and I'm glad they did something so artsy, however...

How in the world does this fit into any 'reality' that this film is aiming to emulate from Eisner's work?

Between this shot and the whole floating around with Lorelei inside of a bong scenario... I really hope Denny's in a coma, dreaming... or he's been drugged and is hallucinating while lamenting his womanizing and having a 'time to get responsible' moment.

Octopus is just ridiculous... and not in a good way. Christopher Lee once said that when he was filming his lighsaber battle with Yoda, he told George Lucas to remove a scene where Yoda had lept onto his back. His reason was "We don't want to risk an unintentional laugh". I think that fits my concern about how Octopus is handled.

Overall, it's way too avant garde to look like Eisner, but there are things that work, at least for this multi-decade Spirit reader. I'm not completely against this film... just not sold on it at all.

I'm willing to bet that it will be a dreaming sequence or something like that.

Sam Jackson might be the only minor gripe I have with the trailer. Oh, well, that's Sam. I'm sure he'll have better scenes in the actual movie. The rest looks remarkable.

Great. Now I'm going to have nightmares of a crazed, Samurai-looking Samuel L. Jackson with mutton chops that would make Elvis jealous attacking me while he's standing in front of a wacky black and white-striped background.

Not a fan of the character, but Eva Mendes's scene's in the movie simply have sold, especially when she drops the towell, my god.

The spirit should have a noir feel not a sin city feel.

It does have a film noir feel. Sin City just happens to have it also. The problem here, seems to me, is that you have an unhealthy grudge against Miller.:oldrazz:

I personally loved the trailer, and I love how crazy Samuel L. Jackson looks in a nazi uniform. No one can say this is not Eisner's movie because no one has seen the movie, their simply going by two trailers that they've seen.

Do we see Eva's goods in this ? That might be the only thing to get me to want to pay for this if we get good full front & back shots after she drops the towel

The trailer is great fun! It's completely bizarre and unpredictable. It's just...out there, man. And I told ya the movie is in color.

I don't have a grudge against him really, just from the looks of this trailer and the posters with the women and suggestive statements, it seems to me that Millers is ruining the Spirit. And those who have never read the spirit before, who go to see the movie will get the wrong depiction of the character. They will think it is like Sin City, and its not. I just think that if Miller wants to make a sequel to Sin City, do it, but leave the Spirit out of it and don't ruin him. He's one if not the best characters in comic books in my opinion and I think they should make the movie the right way or don't make it and wait for someone else make it right. This is what the problem seems to be. :yay:

Those who don't know what The Spirit is about will find out what he is about when they see it, obviously. Miller already stated that it won't be Sin City and this trailer proves it.

They're not gonna see it by this movie. Have you ever read the spirit? Because he's totally different than he is depicted in this 2nd trailer. It may not be Sin City but it looks awful close. And thats what I'm afraid of...The Shadow's Scared!

...and just how exactly is the character different in any significant way?
