NEW full TRAILER!!!

I wish Miller never made this movie. He is ruining the Spirit. I don't care what you say. This is not the Spirit and its not supposed to look like a pornographic film. First and foremost the Spirit is detective not a "player". Miller is blowing the fact that the Spirit has attractive femme fatals as villians way out of proportion. And in the comics, he doesn't engage in intercourse with them. From this trailer, the movie looks like a cross between Sin City and a pornagraphic film with a hint of crappy ninja movie with bad special fx. I'm not picking up any trace of the Spirit in this. Miller just needs to stop and let someone else take over this project.

Good. Don't go see it. The film will probably still do fine without you.:oldrazz:

Ok, so you say he didn't get his clothes right and I say he made them more adequate for cinema, as he already explained why, and it shows, imo.

To me....there is a difference between being "right" and being "more adequite for cinema". I, and others, are saying that the black suit does not fit in with the "norm" for how the Spirit was portrayed. As I said before....99% of the time he wore blue suit and white tie. If you take any comic character that ran for multiple years...you will see something sometime that is drawn different (could be their clothes, face, body, etc...)....but we are talking about how he looked in almost every panel he was in.

You like the new direction he's taking with the black suit....many others of us don't.

Well, in the Rate The Suit forum, according to the pole, most people think it looks pretty good. Go figure.

Who are you trying to convince...me or you? I made the statement that I and others I know don't like the black suit. You keep trying to convince me I'm wrong. I hate to break it to you....but it's my OPINION that I don't like it. I'm not trying to convince you to like it. I'm stating that I and others don't like it, and that it doesn't look like the suit used in the comics. You and others do like it...but it still doesn't look like the suit used in the comics.

I have stated many times in many forums....opinions are never right or wrong....they are opinions. And a preference for or against the look of a suit on a character is an "opinion"......BUT whether or not a particular type of suit used in a movie matches those used in a comic....is a verafiable fact.

I'm not trying to convince you of anything. Never have. You don't like the suit, wonderful. In your last response to me you said that I liked the direction of the suit and that "many others of us don't". Unless I assumed wrong, in which case I apologize, you probably meant that I was in the minority of people who liked the suit, and hence I decided to prove otherwise. Again, if this was not the case, I apologize.

Yes, if we don't except each others opinion, this argument could be perpetual and in the end, its futile because we'll all most likely keep the same opinion and yet either way we can't do anything to change the movie. What's the point. But, most of us can agree, we do like the character the Spirit. Right?

I never meant to imply that you were in the minority of anything....I took your comments to mean that there were very few people who didn't like the all black suit, and was showing you that there are more of us than you may think. The majority of people I know who are around my age (I am 51)and who are fans of the Spirit....do not come to this or other comic related fansites on the internet to express their views on things such as this.

Um...I am not a big "The Spirit" reader at all, but I do know the basics of his story...What I am is a big movie-goer and by this and the teaser...I don't know how this looks "awful" or "terrible" to people after...maybe 1 minute and 20 seconds of actual theatrical footage so...I will reserve judgment until/if I see this movie. The way I see it, is that these trailers aren't really doing their job in enticing audiences into watching the film. They don't explain much and don't have a theme (besides showing his enemies/lovers?) or build up to something at the end of the trailer.

The effects look pretty cool, overall I think the teaser was better (the music was very detectivey) which could clue in audiences but...it doesn't look bad or anything...to me at least.

I like the black with red tie, most of the women, the colour schemes aren't bad...very vibrant, the snapping?...was kinda cool, the helicopters looked pretty comic booky...a good thing, and other stuff that I cannot recall.

I don't really like the domino mask, some of the one liners, something about Sam Jackson that i find awkward...and i think that all

Positive out weighs Negative:woot:

Never read The Spirit, and don't plan on it. I just find it ridiculous how Sam Jackson looks when he his holding the two chains guns. What's that about?

^I See Spidey, i gotta say i LOVE your avatar. :woot:
Thanks.

I can't speak for anyone else but it looked terrible to me because the previews made the movie look like SinCity meets a porno, except it didn't look half as cool as SinCity. And Sam Jackson looked ridiculous and overall the movie looked just plan dumb. Not a complicated review but a review none the lest.

Thanks.

...Alright, I got you. I gotta say it does seem quite dumb, the storyline that is but, the story does date back to what...The 50's or so. As for a "porno", I don't know about that, the movie does seem quite sexual/sensual but, it did look kinda cool to me so...

Sam Jackson doesn't look ridiculous...Just a tad bit awkward, this coming from only 2 shots of him of course.

Oh...And I too enjoy you avatar I SEE SPIDEY...:woot:

I sat for The Spirit panel at the New York con, and was..apprehensive. I got over the suit thing, I was willing to put my trust in Miller.

Now with the new trailer out, I am really questioning the direction this is taking. Visually it looked NOTHING like The Spirit. Central City seems lost, pretty much non-existent within the black backgrounds and heavily applied special effects. With all the focus on hot chicks, I am afraid that, well, the spirit of The Spirit is going to be lost on this film.

And WHAT is up with Sam Jackson in that makeup? HOW is that the Octopus????

Of course he looks ridiculous, is a WTF pathetic look. It seems Miller made Spirit Sin City, repeating the same style is going to get old soon.

you know a few pages back i bashed this movie but after watching the tralier a couple of times since then its started to grow on me and i've changed my mind about the movie and am now looking forward to what miller and company are up 2

All we are saying...Is give The Spirit a chance...

That's awesome!

You know... I'll admit... the trailer makes sense now, considering the new elements Miller has revealed...

Now that we know that Miller (in his boundless faithfulness to the source material) has given Denny SUPERPOWERS, all of the scenes in the trailer make sense.

"What Superpowers", you may ask...?

Miller, being characteristcally sexist and absurdly juvenile in his views on manliness and relationships with women invented the greatest superpower ever:

The Spirit's newly invented superpower is that he is a TOUGH GUY and he makes every woman who comes into contact with him WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH HIM!

Genius.

I'll admit, I never saw that coming... the giving a character who was supposed to represent the average man superpowers, that is.

If I had to imagine what kind of superpower someone as obviously mentally ******ed as Frank Miller would invent, SEX POWERS are really not that shocking...

Yeah, Rogue Trooper, I'm finally convinced. Miller is staying completely true to Eisner's work. And, he's not a predictable, one trick pony at all.

Sex Powers. :hehe:

Tough guy Powers. :hehe:

Miller is doing the 'haters' work for us. He's dismantling all of Eisner's fans' faith in this project all by himself.

Sex powers...
