New Interview - Kinberg and Penn Speak

So I know this belong in the novelization thread, but I couldn't find it, so I will mention it here. Don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but Simon Kinberg has a cameo in the novelization. Look at page 216, where "Colonel Simon Kinberg" says "No contact, all units in position.....I mark one hundred plus unfriendlies"

I hope he gets killed in the book.

I don't think he does. He's just a guy working one of the computers in the war room when trask and the pres are tracking mag's army. Although I haven't read much further. He could die in the final battle.....

I'm sorry, I still can't fully let them off the hook.

They misled us, and that much can't be denied.

I agree wholeheartly. Their just as bad as Ratner at this point.

I think they were on the Xverse site to give us hope and keep our mind away from the leaked script and you know what it worked:(

All that interview tells me is that they should stay away from X4. (You reading this Zak Penn and Simon Kinberg?) Seriously, If they kept Bryan Singer, David "SolidSnake" Hayter, Dan Harris and Mike Dougherty X3 would have been a MUCH better movie. I hope FOX thinks very carefully about this before they do anything else for X4.

What a major snowjob they did on all of us fans!

They fooled quite a few people out there and they deserve to be spitted on. Those hacks deserve nothing but our disrespect and flaming from here on out for deceiving us all. ****ers.

Simon Kinberg: Zak and I started outlining together, which is really one of the most important parts of the process, in January or February on a film that was going into production in August. By February, March, we were writing the script and spending a lot of face time together for those first few drafts. Then once the movie went into production, we sort of tag-teamed being on set.

That's funny because I could've sworn Fox claimed there wasn't anything more than an old out-of-date draft available at the time of the AICN leak. Yet here Kinberg clearly discloses the timeline of the script. Those guys should've made themselves crib notes to keep track of the lies they were telling.

Simon Kinberg: The thing that excited us the most about this movie was the chance to do the Dark Phoenix saga.

Rub it in... (and if the Phoenix got them excited yet has only 7 lines I wonder what happens to characters they are not excited about.)

If Kinberg and Penn were to ever handle writing Angel's transition into Archangel for a future X-movie, and they butchered it, I would kill them with my bare hands.

You hear me Zak and Simon?! :down

I have a general opinion of those two. But I won't post it until after I have seen the movie. :o

But, if I should find or believe that my assumptions were true of them misleading, lying to us........

Well, let's just say I have a few people I can call, who can get the job done.

And I especially don't appreciate people who I've never met, telling me what I would and wouldn't like.

Who are these people, Kinberg, Penn, and Fiege, to tell ME that I wouldn't enjoy Gambit's appearance, just because there's no relationship with Rogue?

Who are they to tell me that I wouldn't enjoy his appearance because they couldn't fully flesh him out the way other characters like Nightcrawler and Beast were introduced and fleshed out?

I would very much enjoy his appearance, because no matter how deeply you flesh him out, you're never going to be able to touch on everything about Gambit anyways. So instead of telling me what I would and wouldn't like, why don't you allow me to decide for myself what I would and wouldn't like.

But these are the same people who say we'll be proud of Cyclops' portrayal when he has absolutley no role in this film whatsoever.

You got some good points, I'm 50-50 with the whole thing.

The Rogue relationship is a wierd one. If they really wanted to go through with the Gambit/Rogue relationship...
then why on earth would they cure Rogue to continue her relationship with Bobby rather than setting her up with Remy instead?

You know what, it's totally stupid the whole "there's no relationship with Rogue, and no way to make it work"

YOU ALREADY HAVE A FREAKING LOVE TRIANGLE GOING! JUST TAKE OUT KITTY PRYDE WHO NOBODY ****ING ASKED FOR AND PUT IN GAMBIT WHO EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER WAS ASKING FOR!

Pretty ****ing simple.

But these guys don't have a freaking clue.

They had to leave him out, to put in a bunch of mutants that half the hardcore fans don't even know anything about, just so they could have mutants to kill off, because their too uncreative to create drama without killing people off.

And how funny it is that Gambit's too important a character to kill off, BUT YOU KILL OFF CYCLOPS TO KICK OFF THE ****ING PHOENIX SAGA!

These guys are NOT the fans they've been claiming to be on the xverse for so long.

I like it how they said that there was no intention to maliciously mislead fans.

Is that why Fox's posters featured Cyke in uniform? :down

And Angel.

Finally some other people are seeing through the bull**** these guys have given over the past 8 or 9 months. When Kinberg was giving a hint that Cyclops would live, i knew he was lying, i dont why, i could just tell, but when i posted that on here, i was jumped on for being negative and told "I think the filmmakers know more than you." Well guess what, they dont, they are both poor screenwriters, one of which claimed he would have cut 35 mins off of Batman Begins, ha ha what a joke.

If X3 is a mega succes i think FOX will stick with the same team. They did the same with Fantastic Four.

i really dont think the writers approve promos
I've been saying this for some time. The writers have no control over the marketing team whatsoever. FOX should have never released those pics of Cyclops and Angel in costume.

I think the comment was about Fox not wanting to maliciously mislead us...

Either way, whether they approve promos or not (which I know they don't), Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn DID mislead us. After all the hysteria over the AICN script review, they claimed it went through massive changes. After all of our complaints over Cyclops' role in that script review, they claimed that we'd be proud with his portrayal, that they were proud with his portrayal. They claimed that Cyclops had a few surprises in store.

But guess what? It's all the same. It's the same thing we've been complaining about since last June. And it HASN'T changed.

I'm not excusing some of their misleading answers on thexverse but they do say that they lost some battles while working on the movie. Maybe they fought for more Cyclops scenes but ended up getting a big No from the producers?

They mislead us from the very start, Nell and Retro.

I remembered on how we couldn't get a damn straight answer from Kinberg or Penn when if Gambit was going to be in. There's even a VIDEO interview where Kinberg confirmed that he was in, but not in a big role. Then they all beat around the bush, and finally it was revealed that Gambit was cut out. My hopes were high, and it was destroyed. Strike ONE.

Then came the whole Cyclops fiasco. Once again, never got a straight answer from Penn or Kinberg. Then we got some promo pix of Cyclops in uniform and I got excited. But now, my hope was destroyed once again. Friggin' Kinberg was proud of Marsden's performance? What? All 5 minutes of it? Strike Two.

Now, back to Gambit, Kinberg and Penn promised that they would use him in X4. Is there an X4, or are they lying again? They were pushing my patience, seriously. Then Ratner even hinted that some characters might come back, IF there was an X4. IF.

Strike 3? I don't know. I just know that if there's an X4, I want them to shape up or ship out!

That "battle" (if there was one) ended when shooting ended, so they knew they lost yet they sold us bs.

Kinberg is just like Ratner, from what I can tell: A Hollywood tool. I wouldn't be surprised if either of them actually fought to keep Cyclops alive.

It's funny how Ratner fought to get a bigger budget, and even changed the last battle scene, but didn't even touch Cyclops' demise...

Exactly.

I should have known something was up when I mentioned that to Simon on the xverse. I asked him why all the secrecy around Gambit if he wasn't in. He said he wasn't aware of any extra security, just that there was a tight lid on any potential new characters, and Gambit was the most asked about.

B.S. I remember that video you were talking about, where Kinberg said he wasn't a major role. And all of the "no comments" we got regarding the character.

Kinberg has had strike 3 with me for awhile now. Ever since it was revealed that Cyclops really does die... my respect for them (which was quite a lot) went out the window... for their blatant disrespect of the source material that they were adapting, and their blatant disrespect for the fans by decieving us the whole time.
