New interview with Kinberg

You're making a habit of posting things that have already been posted.

We weren’t supposed to tell anyone that the Phoenix was in this movie until a month or two ago, but Famke’s [Janssen] name is on IMDB, so I think people were going to catch on.

[Sprays soda out of his mouth and chokes] This is a pile of moose caca!!! After all that happened in X2 all the obvious clues not to mention the PHOENIX at the end, we're supposed to have no idea that there's going to be a Phoenix storyline in X3? what the hell? They really think we're that dumb and gullible?

not only that, but if I recall correctly, famke was in promotional material way long ago. The teaser trailer came out in like november.

You guys are really putting way too much negativity and too many spins on these writers and what they say...I don't see it as necessary, ya know...Take a step back.

It's like every single thing now, fans are using new articles and interviews to tear their claws into what these guys have to say...I don't think it's fair..

It is very much fair. They've lied before and they don't deserve any mercy now.

If you don't think it's fair or don't like it,simply don't enter the thread.

Hasn't this been covered already here?

There is another thread with the Kinberg/Penn PODCAST I think.

Sorry if I'm wrong, and this has already been posted.

I think by now I read more interviews from the writers than the entire cast :p

...he really knows how to twist things to suit him better. "No firebird to match the tone of the first two films..."...X2 had a firebird :down

Just saying...

Isn't that her "cocoon of telekinetic energy"?...

Maybe the conceptualized firebirds were even more over the top than that (it's not supposed to look the same, since that's still Jean's power and this is now Phoenix), so they decided against it? I can sorta agree to an extent...It might've been a tad too much..

Less is more, yeah, but it was a little more less than less.. :p

They haven't really been lying(unless you can prove me otherwise)...Most of this stuff was already explained before. The thing is, that people aren't choosing to believe otherwise. It's ridiculous. It's all blind negativity.

I came into this thread to read the interview.

The bird, flames are trademark Phoenix things as is the rise sequence. The concepts for the firebird as seen in the Art Of book look and so does the recently removed vfx stuff.

There were even flames in her eyes in X2...

Yeah, I know...They slightly changed up a few things (some for considerably logical reasons), but those haven't been the main complaints...

'Wanted to remain true to the tone of the first 2 movies'

O...K, X2 had fire AND the firebird at the end. Give me a break! That's a lame excuse.

maybe he was too blind enough to see the firebird in the end of x2. bah.

Let's all just admit it: They screwed up.

And Simon needs to stop trying to apologize for blatant missteps in this production. Insulting the fans' intelligence is not going to get him anywhere.

I think the “angelic” treatment he had gotten in the first two movies while being heroic wasn’t that interesting for an actor to play. It’s not the direction the character ends up going in the comics, and I think some of that was important to Patrick.

With thinking like this, it's no wonder the movie sucked so bad.

Not to mention the way they turned alot of the concepts around on their heads. At the end of X2, Charles suddenly looks out the window. Asking if everything is ok, he turns back and with a slight smile assures those present that "oh I think everything's going to turn out all right".

Tell me that isn't foreshadowing. And it doesn't take alot to figure out WHAT he was talking about or WHO he was referring to. (The lack of a grave in X3 supports that he knew more about what was going on than he'd admit. It's clear that Charles was the first one to get a grave)

And yet in X3 he's suddenly "holy crap, we're all doomed!"

x3 was a good movie though. i do agree that kinberg and the others are just tools and liars so screw what they say. the firebird wasnt in the movie because they were over budget ( i do love the effect they used instead though it kinda is in key with her powers and they should change the fire effects in x2 and use this). plus the whole xavier thing "everthing is gonna be alright" is bad continiuty but maybe he said that because jean spoke to him saying "im alright" which lead him not to worry but her powers progressivly grew in the lake and he realizes if she is to awake things will happen.

But him turning into a manipulative, lying SOB is either an incredible turn of events to shock the audience, or just bad writing ignoring the things that took great pains to set up in the first 2 films. And having Jean supposedly kill in cold blood someone she sacrificed herself in the previous movie to save... I just can't buy that either.

Never mind the other nitpicks or the way the movie implodes on its own internal logic. But to call it the conclusion of a saga, a part of a trilogy when it so blatantly can't even stay consistent with the other two films? that's a lie as well.
