On another note, I recall Paramount lost Marvel to the property hungry Disney corp and they are about to lose bay's insurance with the TF franchise. They've also lost Abrams on Star trek.

So apart from the hit and miss Mission Impossible, and uncertain TF/Star Trek and the wait and see GI Joe franchise.

Paramount needs this film to be a hit going forward into the property wars of big studio film landscape.

Pretty much. The rest of their tentpoles have VERY uncertain futures. They need this to succeed.

At the very least, make enough and get good enough word of mouth to warrant a sequel.

The kid from Shameless should have been Raphael, not Mikey.

Not too eager about the Galaxy Quest kid or Smallville's Aquaman.

Love the way Don and Mike turned out for the cast. Never would have thought of Howard or Fisher, but I'm thrilled. Pete looks familiar, so I'm at least feeling better about Leo.

I DON'T like the sound of a snowboarding scene. Just smacks of camp, and the sport is on the decline. Something like that would date the movie horribly.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Fast franchise. The Mummy is also a good one for them, though. They plan on rebooting the movies, so they're working to keep that one fresh as well.

There are other Japanese actors out there they could get aside from those two I would think. The question is would they be willing and able to be in this franchise. If not just go with an American/European Asian actor.
