Anyone else feeling a little iffy about

Wayne Palmer being president?

It seems to much like a poor mans David Palmer to me. Like they are trying to recreate it. I'd prefer something new I think.

we haven't seen enough of Wayne, we'll have to see how it plays out on 24...

Yeah, I guess. I think we have seen so little so far that it could very well be a red herring and Wayne actually is just an advisor (he was David's chief of staff after all).

But right now...I dunno, it seems like an attempt to recreate David.

Perhaps... Depends how big Wayne will play into the season. Perhaps he's not a big deal outside of advising and **** of a situation and they simply didn't want to bother waste any time introducing a new president and it also will add to the story of Jack being sacrafice in which case it's not a big deal... But if the story directly affects the president like this season... Then what your saying will be a bigger issue...

Every season the story has directly effected the president (or president-to-be).

Season 1 - Focused on the attempted assassination of Palmer

Season 2 - There were about 3 subplots with David, and Sherri was involved with the terrorists.

Season 3 - Saunders was blackmailing Palmer.

Season 4 - President was killed and Logan was incompetant.

Season 5 - well, yeah, Logan was the bad guy.

Hasn't been stated that he's the President? Or at least running? To give it that whole JFK/RFK vibe?

IMO, I'll wait until I see it, but to be perfectly honest I'd rather see him putting his badassery to work at CTU or something...

To be honest, I think the President played such a prominent role (both in the main terrorist plot and in the more personal stories) was because David Palmer was such a popular bad-ass of a character.

IMO, if Palmer hadn't been as popular as he was, it would've been written that he'd lost the election; if they didn't go that route, I think his story arcs would have strictly been his role in the days' threats to national security (think Keeler in Day 4, perhaps a bit more in-depth). As it stands, I think his popularity is what led to the stories that delved into his personal affairs, like everything with Sherri and Wayne and all that jazz. They did the same thing with Kim, except that with Kim they failed to make it interesting.

Personally, I don't remember Keeler playing that large of a role in Day 4 until he was killed - in fact, I'm pretty sure he just hung out on Air Force One getting updates until he was shot down, am I correct? Afterwards, Logan's incompetance came into play, but in the end that was utilized to bring David Palmer back in.

Even Day 5's events were primarily fueled by David Palmer. From the looks of it, Day 6 is likely to carry on this tradition in spirit with the President we'll apparently see in office.

Heller wasn't killed. He was in season 5, and I think this season Wayne Palmer is going to be a ***** character..sometimes nice but if you saw him in season 3 and how how he was hes going to be a no nonsense pres.

 No, Heller wasn't killed. He survived that car crash...

...President Keller, though, from Day 4, died when Air Force One was hit by terrorists (actually, he died later, between Days 4 and 5).
