Meh. I renamed the thread now that we know what this is, but still... meh.

Da Vinci, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D :awesome:

So, wait. So... S.H.I.E.L.D. is a millennia old secret society now?

Wait. What?

Or, wait, is there time travel involved? Like, did S.H.I.E.L.D. get formed by the U.N. in the 50s like always, but due to time travel stuff they now have had agents since ancient Egypt? 'Cause I could be on board for that.

That looks a bit like Kang's helmet by Da Vinci's feet.

The concept sounds quite cool, I want to see where it goes.

Leonardo Da Vinci was an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. So was Issac Newton. So were Imhotep and Zhang Heng and Galileo and many other geniuses throughout time. They were the first heroes to defeat Galactus and the Brood and turn Celestials back. They saved the world long before Captain America or Iron Man were ever born, but what does this mean to our heroes of today? What does this mean to Nick Fury? Do not miss this Marvel Comics masterpiece that fans will be talking about for decades to come. All the insanity is courtesy of JONATHAN HICKMAN (FANTASTIC FOUR, SECRET WARRIORS, Nightly News) and DUSTIN WEAVER (X-MEN).

Anyone see Apocalypse at the back there? Looks like Ole' En Sabah Nur has a few stories he hasn't shared yet

Da Vinci vs. Galactus, I want more. This is going to be epic.

Too bad it's only going to last 5-12 issues. :csad:

Da Vinci vs Galactus, Hickman you got some big ideas man.
I wonder if other geniuses like Leon Battista Alberti are going to make an appearance. Seeing Aleister Crowley as SHIELD agent would be sick. I would pay some serious bucks to see the Great Beast fighting Thanos for the Infinity Gauntlet.

I am very excited about this. Hickman's a good writer and his work on Secret Warriors has cemented me for this book.

Remember the ORB episode of Venture Bros? Sam Clemens and Oscar Wilde's guild fighting Tesla's goons on airships... awesome. This seems to be in the same mood. Can't wait.

Of course I remember ORB, it had Eugen Sandow, Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain, Aleister Crowley and Nikola Tesla was mentioned.
Here's some pics. GO TEAM VENTURE!

Check out his FF work, his first 3 issue arc about Reed was truly epic.

I've considered it, but I buy so much that I really can't afford to pick up any more comics. But yeah, FF is one that I've really been considering, along with Daredevil and Punisher (FrankenCastle).

I'm purging a lot of comics soon so hopefully I'll make enough room to add one or two more.

Still not a fan of this concept, although Galactus standing over the Duomo is a pretty cool image.

Yeah, this sounds awesome, I'm on board. I'll give Hickman a chance on anything really, he has me enjoying the FF for the first time in a long while.

I'm much more open to giving this a chance after the most recent Fantastic Four issue. I love that Hickman took a familiar concept--the Inhumans--and expanded on them with new characters and more history. Retcons, yes, but really well done retcons. Hopefully this series will be more like that and less like "SHIELD = HYDRA."

Unless, HYDRA splintered off from SHIELD, and thus justifies the reason how HYDRA was able to 'punk' later incarnations of SHIELD...

O.

Seriously, I'm more excited for this than any Avengers or Brightest Day stuff thats coming out.

What difference would that make? It'd still mean Nick Fury was completely incompetent for like 80% of his career.

O.

"They are the shield, we are the spear...."

Note Imhotep is carrying both.

Short interview with Hickman

Interesting that it was apparently a SWORD story first. Makes sense, though, given that it seems like the creation of the titular organization will apparently be tied to a Brood invasion.

Hickman has been brilliant on Secret Warriors - a title in which I had no interest at first but now love - and I've heard his run on Fantastic Four has been good too, so I'll give this a shot.
