Superman Returns New Stills incl original Shirt-Rip scene!

C'mon Showtime, comprehend much? What other film has taken *this* long for pictures to show up on the Net? (There are more, btw.) THAT is what I found funny. I will say I was pretty damn frustrated last year by some people here. As if *I* would make up something about SR? Please. I spoke with some of those individuals privately and we're good now. Again, it's truly no big deal, but out of curiosity, can you quote me where discussion took place "about the bare chest shot months and months before the film dropped?"

This discussion was on the SR boards as soon as the shot of the shirt rip was featured in one of the teasers or tv spots, which I believe was a couple months before the film dropped. You could tell immediately it was CGI and then the truth was revealed. I am sure somebody can verify this on the boards.

WOW! One more reason I don't like Routh. He looks like a Kryptonian villain rather than Superman. With that suit and look on his face, he could've worked as the new ZOD! Superman? Nah. :o
I disagree.:o
Anyway, thanks for the new pics Retroman. Very interesting.
You (and everyone else:cwink: ) are very welcome.
:D

So it took FIVE months for that pic to finally show up.... offically? Nice.

*cough*

I had no idea they pasted a cleaner shot of Routh's head on that shot.Nice observation.

well, I will admit, he does look like a villain in that pose... maybe not like Zod, but like someone else. I think Routh would look like a very convincing Zoner...

I'd rather see what this film originally looked like... it's a shame so much was cut from it.

I'm crossing my fingers for an extended cut release.Singer isn't directing anything now since Logan's Run has been put on ice so he'll have time to recut the movie.
I've got all of Brandon's pics in higher res. I've already put up the CK ones. The Kal-El ones are next, followed by Superman. 8]

Excellent. Thanks.

I'm wondering if that is the ship or the FOS. Doesn't he go to the FOS to get on the ship or am I delirious?

Designer Ben Procter (the one who worked on the FOS, RTK stuff) designed a launch pad for the ship in the FOS. I have no idea if they actually filmed a scene where Supes goes to the FOS to get in the ship.

Yeah he kind of does because of the lighting but definetly not Zod. I think the grey suit looks really good btw.

I am happy they removed this, I didn't like the idea at all. Superchest. :super:

A little while ago someone posted the animated pre vis for that sequence, and it was sooooo much better then that blurry off center bad music cue shirt rip we got. Origionally I thought it would have been corny, but after seeing the animation, it was great.

Where?

it was on bluetights

as far as the friends and family cut, this movie needs the full cut to redeem itself in my eyes. I want alll 3 hours in there, absolutely everything

That's weird? I am going to ask Justin if he has it to see.

file is active Showy, i'm DLing right now.

thanks DB! bigass file though.

awesome scene!

why oh why singer did you leave this out???!!

this would have been awesome!

they even filmed this obviously, there is a short clip of clark running down the alley in the "look up in the sky" documentary, not to mention the clip of him coming out of the broom cupboard.

what idiots

this would have added some nice humour to the scene

rather than having that stupid cgi s shield on his chest

talk about stupid,

we wait 20 years, and get a cgi shirt rip,

how moronic is that???

god almighty, someone must have been on crystal meth or crack when they thought of putting on a cgi s shield cos they were too lazy to film one.

idiots

i know! it doesnt slow down the scene at all, especially with that john williams music compared to the awful music buildup that was in the movie

I don't get it, why would a bare chested shirt rip be better than a CGI shirt rip? I think the scene was pointless and way to campy.

I don't think it had anything to do with laziness. we know the scene was filmed as he originally wanted it but he probably just felt the finished product didn't work as well as he wanted it to so he decided to go with the standard shirt ripped by just adding the shirt instead of going back and refilming the entire scene. its just working with what they already had on hand

it also adds a HUGE plot hole..... how the hell was Clark going to get his clothes back? By keeping the shirt rip the way it is in the final cut, Superman's mysterious clothes changing ability is perserved. If you show him coming out of the closet then suddenly you realize he has shirts and pants (and glasses) laying around everywhere.

that's what that briefcase hidden in the closet was for... in all honesty, Singer should of taken that scene out of the movie. When I saw that, and then saw Superman do the shirt rip, I was really confused...
