Filming has just completed on the new E4 drama Misfits which features five unruly teenagers on community service who gain strange powers after they are caught in a freak storm. Used to being demonised by society, they grudgingly try to save their home town - while having to work around their curfews.

C4 head of drama Liza Marshall described the show as "a very British, very funny take on superheroes" with more appeal to Skins viewers than comic-book fans. Unusually, given its subject, it will feature no special effects.

The Show follows a gang of five teenage outsiders who get caught in a flash storm while on Community Service and suddenly find themselves saddled with strange superpowers.

Party-girl Alisha (Antonia Thomas) can send people into a sexual frenzy with just one touch, hard-as-nails Kelly (Lauren Socha) can suddenly hear people's thoughts, while one-time sporting hero Curtis (Nathan Stewart Jarrett) discovers he has the ability to turn back time. Even painfully shy nerd Simon (Iwan Rheon) can make himself invisible - which is what he has always felt.

...Which makes things even more painful for smart-aleck Nathan (Robert Sheehan), the only member of the ASBO gang who appears unaffected by the storm. The biggest mystery about him remains how he got his community service order in the first place - all anyone knows is there was a mysterious incident involving some pick-n-mix...

Each week the gang reluctantly step up to the plate to save each other and the rest of their community from the very thing they've all been mistaken for - the bad guys. But unlike their more conventional counterparts, they don't swap their Reebok classics and ankle tags for capes and tights. Instead, they discover just how tough life can be when you're all that stands between good and evil. Well, that and a curfew order....

There's a fantastic young cast lined up including:

The gorgeous young Irish actor Robert Sheehan who gave a standout performance as BJ in the Red Riding trilogy.

Welsh actor Iwan Rheon (graduate of LAMDA) who gave a virtuoso performance as Moritz in teen musical Spring Awakening in the West End. (And another Spring Awakening star Jamie Blackley will also be making an appearance in Misfits).

Nottinghamshire actress Lauren Socha who starred in Samantha Morton's recent directorial debut The Unloved.

Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, a graduate of the Brit School and Central drama school.

And newcomer Antonia Thomas, a veteran of the National Youth Theatre.

Also appearing will be Amy Beth Hayes, who recently starred as Daisy in the ITV celebrity drama Whatever It takes.

Misfits is also note-worthy for having a young director, Tom Green, who featured as one of Screen Daily's Stars of Tomorrow.
Heres THE TRAILER

Sounds like Skins meets Fantasic Four meets Heroes to me.

weird, sounds like that Misfits of Science show, probably where they got the idea

Man this show sounds horrible. But I might tune in.

Lame Powers are Lame. Unless Invisi-Lad gets force field powers anyway.
Also, Time Travel? = Hey it's Hiro Nakmura from Heroes?

Very overpowered.

Meh, I'm gonna watch it, E4 has al ot of shows that have a horrible sounding premise, but somehow end up being brilliant, especially when it comes to there "teen" shows.

Quiet you, I'm blaming your view on your age. :p

I just saw the first episode and I'm interested enough to tune in again next week. My only point about the first episode is that it would have been better if it hadn't so much time (the entire first half) letting the characters discover their powers. That being said the second half was a big improvement.

Good first episode the skinny Northern Irish Shi Lebouef look alike stole the show for me he had the best lines.

Reminded me of deadset or 28 days later it was quite gory and almost scary at times. I'm willing to give this show a chance.

Been catching this, had no idea what it was about going into it and I was quite impressed. and Man i'm in love with the girl who plays Alisha(the only reason why I tuned in lol)

Are you sure it wasn't because of the topless grannies :cwink::barf:

You see I was doing a good job of forgetting that scene, I chose to remember the topless scene just before that and all is well in the world :cwink:

yeah pretty decent ep

"are you mentally deficient?"
"NO, if I was mentally deficient I would have missed"

At first I thoguht it was going to be 'Skins with superpowers' which I wasn't really into the idea of but I watched the first ep and I'm liking the show. I like that it's a bit 'offbeat' and is trying to do something different with the genre. Nathan is funny.

I wonder what Nathans power will be or if he even got one.. I'm kinda expecting it to be something big now that it's taking so long to discover. I wondered if it might be something to with words, like making people beleive what you say... 'cos all the others powers are based on their characters/traits -
Kelly can hear others thoughts 'cos even though she's hard edged she wonders what people really think of her, Simon can turn invisible 'cos he is a loner, Alishas power is obviously 'cos she's a party girl and Curtis can turn back time 'cos deep down he wishes to change his past.

I missed episode 2 but episode 3 was alright and ep4 looks interesting.

in the intro they have graphics displaying their powers and his is a wolf so maybe something like that, im not sure

I think the wolf following Nathan in the credits is supposed to be his step-dad with the whole Jack Russell Terrier thing. If Nathan does have some power I don't really think it'll be anything impressive, the character is too comedic, for anything powerful.

I love Nathan the guys hilarious loved his Bono impression and when Simon asked if he wanted to go to the pub with him and he said 'I'm not your Ho'.

Any show using the Rapture is cool with me.

Alisha looks like see might be turning into the X-Men's Rogue (with her powers making anyone who touch her into a would be rapist).

Yeah that was my theory too, but i couldnt think what Nathans power could be, but what you said makes a lot of sense.

Wiki says:

Title sequence

The titles sequence seems to have a Shadow theme that hints at the powers of the main Characters. Kelly has Radio Signal style lines radiating from her head and one point eyes show up in the shadow. Simon's Shadow disappears on several occasions. Curtis' shadow runs backwards at one point, and at another looks like a sundial shadow going in reverse by being at different angles to the rest of the group. Alisha, or her shadow, seems to have lines radiating towards it like she is drawing people towards her. Nathan is followed by the shadow of a wolf, which may hint at a shape-shifting power. The bulk of the title sequence is solely in Shadow/Cutout style apart from some real footage of the main characters in the section where their powers are hinted at.

But after this week's ep I think he might have...
Probability manipulation...he did say he was close to death and lucky to be alive...

Effects look good, but everything else just looks and sounds stupid

Wow I didn't think Simon could get any more creepy but last nights episode proved me wrong :wow:

Nathan and the legendary Pick and Mix :woot:
