Dirk Gently is good. Surprising because how hard it can be to adapt Douglas Adams' work without completely messing it up.

Unfortunately it appears Dirk Gently got cancelled. It would be nice if someone else picked it up but I doubt that will happen.

Couldn't happen to be a better guy in Landis.

:ilv:

Saw the first ep on HBO. Those torture scenes.

Loved the Peaky Blinders finale.

Watching Changretti or whatever his name was get his comeuppance was so satisfying. Loved the Capone namedrop. Tommy killing Alfie was less so but I suppose Hardy wanted off the show.

Tommy being an MP now was a surprising turn of events. I want to see where they go with this.

Tommy is a war hero soldier, gangster, fight promoter, race horse owner, spy, business tycoon and now a politician.

Anyone with more more info as to what is happening with the BBC's adaptation of H.G Wells' The War of the Worlds?
It's being adapted by Peter Harness (Torchwood, Dr Who, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell) and produced by Mammoth Screen (Poldark, And Then There Were None).

No, but I've been watching Shakespeare & Hathaway and Ordeal by Innocence and they're fantastic.

Really hoping for the best for War of the Worlds. It's one of my favorite books, and I've been waiting a long time for a quality adaptation that is period-accurate.

Agreed, I've been longing for a period drama version of this set in a time of when Wells originally wrote it.
No atomic bombs, no nukes, no fighter jets with guided missiles etc.
I find the thought of mankind armed with nothing but cannons in the fields and rifles upon horseback fighting these superior beings far more enticing. Where soldiers and men out of ammunition would try as they might to bayonet at the feet of the War Machines to bring them down when all else has failed. A true show of courage, spirit and a fight for survival.

There is new channel 4 show by the creator of Skins called 'Kiss Me First'. It is based on a book and has been compared to Ready Player One.

I saw the first episode. The Ready Player One comparisons come from the VR game that is part of the story. The real life scenes feel very much like Skins.

Finished Marcella. It was pretty good. About to start 'River'.

I just finished season 2 of Marcella.

The last 20 minutes of the final episode of season 2 has one of the weirdest WTF twists I think I've ever seen.

It is pretty obvious that Marcella killed her own baby as it was sign posted from the start of the show but knocking out her boss and faking her own death was just crazy.

Throughout the show Marcella has been depicted as crazy and not in a maverick cop that doesn't follow the rules but gets results kind of way. She is crazy in a breaks the law, is dangerous, belongs in jail and no one in their right mind would allow her to keep being a detective kind of way.

The fact that some law enforcement type/secret service type would think Marcella would be a ideal candidate to work undercover is insane.

Just finished Marcella season 2. I liked the ending...it was unexpected to say the least. Hoping for a season 3.

Harry Enfield did a hilarious TV sketch mockumentary about the BBC for the centenary of the corporation. It is called the lovebox in your living room
