New Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie and TV show in the works!

I like it because if it sucks at least it’ll have some decent gory kills lol.

Looks good, cant lie.
Not the worst idea going the Halloween 2018 route.

So they're going Halloween 2018 with this, eh?

Pretty sure they’ve said that from the beginning that it was going that route. But yeah definitely gonna be checking this out. Been excited for it. The only real bad films to me in this franchise are Next Generation and 3D. But Next Gen I can watch and at least enjoy for its absolute absurdity, like it’s so bad it’s good kind of thing.

Compared to the last two entries, this looks good, but I’m still skeptical of them going the Halloween 18’ route. That being said, this looks visually superior than anything the franchise has done.

I'm interested to hear their reasoning for what Leatherface has been doing since the original. Also, you can't go wrong with Alice Krige - will be interesting to see how she ties into it all.

Surprised at how blatantly they are retreading Halloween 2018 with old lady Sally. "I've waited 50 years for this night..." (The new Scream really nailed the send-up of these "legacy sequels")

Not expecting anything great here, but still down for some TCM madness and to catch up with old man Leatherface. Will still be fun, even if it is terrible overall. The 2003 remake is still the best post-original TCM film (along with being one of the best of the modern horror/slasher remakes), and this is clearly evoking that to an extent.

Can we PLEASE kill off Leatherface this time? He's the ONLY one of the classic slasher villains who has never been killed off, let alone anyone TRY to actively kill him! It's not like there's anything supernatural like Freddy, Chucky, or Jason or even ridiculously hard to kill like Michael Meyers. He's a mortal loony with a chainsaw who likes to skin people's faces and wear them! I'm pretty sure guns can kill him!

It's been at least 16 years since I last watched the remake, so I think it's time I do that. I'm not a fan of any of the sequels either, but I do remember being creeped out by the remake. The original is still the best, but I have no regrets in saying that this franchise is not that strong overall and is example of something that never needed a sequel.

Was Leatherface ever called Leatherface in the movies? Or is this the first time it being verbally said by a character? Just struck me as funny for some reason.

This movie only counts the original as canon, apparently. I think one of the family members referred to him as Leatherface in the original, but only once.

...this is a new actress playing Sally, sadly though - correct?

Man, I really do wish I didn't already see those early leaks for this because if it wasn't for that I definitely would be more optimistic about this film but that trailer just confirmed a lot of stuff. I will say though that it looks really well shot and the kills do look pretty gory as well, but I don't think that will be enough to save it.

I'm watching it, but its sad seeing hard downhill this franchise has gone since the original and the remake. I enjoy some of the sequels, but this franchise deserves so much better.

While yes the film does seem to be going for the Halloween 2018 angle, I actually think it'll handle it a bit better. For one, it seems Sally will be the one hunting down Leatherface as opposed to the other way around. In Halloween 2018, it felt like Laurie wasn't really doing much, and Michael was just aimlessly killing people until he randomly ended up with Laurie, as if it was the plan all along. At least here Leatherface will seemingly be doing his killings, and then Sally shows up to hunt him down and eventually the two will show down.

My anticipation is that Sally will probably die, just because, to put it simply, she's not Jamie Lee Curtis.

The original TCM and the 2003 remake are definitely the best. Out of all the sequels, the original TCM 2 is still the best because it's just so ridiculous and clearly a spoof of the original. It also has one of the best jump scares, when Leatherface runs out of that dark room at the radio station.

The radio station scene > anything in the original

Sadly, it gets bogged down with the early stuff surrounding Hopper after the car chase/kills. Plus, while the radio station is also a spoof - the finale doesn't connect well and gets messy with the action/placement of the "amusement park caves" of it all.

So it has only been four years and Hollywood has already ran the "legacy sequel" concept into the ground. That happened faster than I anticipated.
