News flash!

Maybe they are saving stuff for the con, but in the mean time, that doesn't prevent them from releasing smaller tidbits, like who will do the FX, the score, etc.

true, I'd love to know some of that stuff. Especially the score. I think most people here know that I stand firmly behind the Williams theme for Superman

it will be the suit, but I think they will release the suit before ComicCon because if they release the suit during the convention, they will be alot of mixed feeling about it.

They need the suit to marinate in fanboys before the convention

Probably true I'd say, especially with the changes to the suit in the comics now.

You know, I can't even begin to imagine how devestating it would be to have this project end now. It's all going too perfectly... :(

it's not going to end, IT IS MEANT TO BE.

All the stars alining

No, I dont either, but lack of ''anything'' on the news front for awhile now only adds more fuel to the worries.
The longer we go without anything, the worse it will get.

I'm sure that the lack of regular updates about the film aren't an indication that the film is falling to pieces. Maybe they don't want to distract from the Green Lantern marketing frenzy. The movie doesn't start filming until August, so there's no reason to think that we're going to know everything about everything anytime soon. Just because a production isn't updating its every baby step doesn't mean it's been derailed.

yeah....how many times have Hypsters followed a production only to be put through a drawn-out lull of news? only every single time and multiple times for every production. no news for a while doesn't necessarily mean it's bad for the production. it either means there's no news to tell or they're waiting for the prime opportunity to release the news.

that being said, QUIT POSTING IN THIS THREAD UNLESS THERE IS NEWS!!! hehe....j/m, but foreal...i'm politely requesting to not post in this thread unless there's news. everytime i see this thread bumped i get a little hopeful and it's a lil' frustrating when all i see is discussion over old or irrelevant stuff.

I know, I get so tired of this. In the TDKR area a bunch of noobs start freaking out about there is no news, it must mean the production is falling apart. It shows that none of them have actually (or they really have ADD) on how many films (all of them) there are droughts with no news what so ever. With TDK after July of 07, there was only one new pic in Oct of 07 and nothing new until late November early December.

People just have too much of an imagination/anxiety/don't know what they are talking about.

No news does not mean something is wrong, it happens all the time with all films.

Agreed, I think people over react now with how spoiled we get with movie news and how any tiny bit of TDKR news makes it's round people go crazy speculating and talking.

TDKR well was dry for a while as well until we got confirmation about Levitt and Cotillard . Since then we've had a steady stream of news. I tend to think the delay in casting news has more to do with Synder trying to secure big names for Jor El, Lex, Sam Lane and Perry. There was a rumor a while back that Thomas Dekker had been chosen for Jimmy but its been silent since.

no thanks to Thomas Dekker. I liked his small role in A Nightmare on Elm Street but he doesn't strike me as Jimmy Olsen material

Nooooooooooo!
Anything, anything but Birthright!
Birthright= ultimate fail!
:yay:

Have you even read Birthright?

The reason I ask is because Birthright is arguably a fan favourite origin story for the character & one that would fit along similar lines to what we saw in Batman Begins with Batman/Bruce Wayne ie the story begins with a early twenties Bruce Wayne & explains any important childhood plot points in flashback type scenes.

Ha!
Those are probably coming from Smallville fans wishing for Man of Steel to be derailed, still harboring the ridiculous idea of Tom Welling as Superman.
:yay:

Yea because all Smallville fans dislike every other incarnation that isn't Smallville. :whatever:

Only place I saw that on was the IMDB forum. Meh.

:)...... :down

I agree. Birthright strikes me as the kind of story that Nolan/Goyer/Snyder would all like.

It translates incredibly well into a sort of 'realism' as well as following the trends in superhero films at the moment.

Having CK travelling through Africa as a Journalist and experiencing the harsh realities... Heck even change it to iraq, egypt, anything that's pertinent. It brings it right into the idea of 'what would it be like if Superman showed up today'.

I love the mixed reactions to his reception, I love the way Lex manipulates that. And I think there is an obvious way to alter the use of the 'crystal' to add Zod and Faora to that story.

I dunno, I'd just be over the moon if I found out just one or two of the elements of Birthright were present.

I like the Iraq or Afghanistan angle. To see Clark as a war correspondent would be nice....

Well most Superheroes are created through their personal tragedies, want of revenge, to make sure that what happened to them can't happen to others, or some personal reason like that.

That's why I want JK alive, and it's why I wasn't a fan of Singer's 'I'm so lonely' theme.

Superman has a heightened sense of gratefulness and appreciation of life, because he doesn't know where he's from. He knows he came down in a meteor shower so is probably lucky to be alive. And he knows he was incredibly lucky to be found in a field by JK and MK and not the government.

So being a journalist in a war zone, watching all the tragedies of our world, being in the thick of It around people not half as lucky as him, seeing children dead in the street from an unexploded bomb - it makes him feel helpless. He's the strongest man in the world but he feels helpless. Because he so badly wants to be able to do something to stop it... Not just to save one life, but to help change the world.

If that's not enough of a reason to don a disguise, change your whole way of life, accept the fact that you may never have the same things as other people (wife and kids), things that you desperately wanted, and dedicate yourself to DOING something about it... If there absolutely has to be a death of a family member in order to make that story compelling, then we've completely lost the concept of what a true hero is.

Are we getting news on June 11th?
Was that a rumor or are we actually supposed to be hearing something big regarding the movie on June 11th?

We're supposed to hear something regarding Superman on June 11th. No word on whether it's movie Superman, comics Superman, or the discovery of a real-life Superman. It's probably not the last one though.

Maybe its just me, but i'm not too worried about the lone ranger, depp or not.

Lol

And also, yippie! News!

and what exactly does this have to do with Superman other than the two movies come out close to one another??

And supposedly we will be hearing the announcement of Jax-Ur, General Lane, and supposedly Brainiac...don't hold me to that, but it's what I've heard

You answered your own question as to what it has to do with Superman.

Depp, Disney, a western, Christmas. I could care less personally but if it looks good I could see a huge hit.
