News flash!

*crosses fingers for a Lex Luthor/Jor-El casting*

Well...I don't think WB did it themselves (I could be wrong), but one of the top trades like Variety did it, and no one has refuted it yet, so I think yea it's safe to assume she is official cast as Faora.

I would think these leaks are deliberate, what with the tight security around this movie. It would seem like WB would allow people involved to say whether a certain actor was being considered or not, or being looked at. So then a top site like Deadline or THR or Variety gets word. I don't think it's a coincidence when two sites like Deadline and Variety get the same info at the same time e.g. when Antje Traue's name was leaked. And in that case, Variety just did more digging and found out that it was for Faora.

But no, it's not official, though would a role like Faora and a name like Antje get an announcement and a statement from Snyder about her casting?

They'll probably just officially announce that Antje is Faora tonight (if they do an announcement)

We should be getting something pretty soon here. Maybe by next week.

I get the feeling that the reason we aren't getting any news for the movie is because they are trying to build hype around the Smallville series finale. That is my guess

And a good guess it is. I was telling my other guilty pleasure mates the same thing.

I also wonder if they are downplaying this because they are putting so much hype into Green Lantern. If so, that's okay by me (even though the dearth of news is driving me crazy!) because I want GL to be a hit.

Has she actually been officially announced? Faora?

No, she hasn't.
Variety reported that Joseph-Gordon Levitt was cast as Alberto Falcone.
Variety reported wrong.
For those who have a short memory or don't want to believe it,here is the infamous Joseph-Gordon Levitt "scoop",
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118034129

If you look closely, you will notice that the person who reported the wrong JGL "scoop", happens to be the same dude who broke the Faora story; ain't that telling.

I do find it interesting that WB had not confirmed any of it.
The truth is likely that she is being looked at and will probably get a part, as Deadline also reported, but the Variety reporter took a look at her picture and guessed "Faora" based on various internet rumors that Faora was being casted.
Since his "guess" concerning JGL was dead wrong, I would not put too much stock on this lady being cast as Faora.
For all we know, she could be one of Luthor's henchmen or Ursa.

You don't know that. You don't know where he got that Faora info. from. He may have heard it from a source. It may be wrong, but he has also gotten stuff right as well as wrong. That's the nature of it. But saying that he only reported that based on internet rumour is conjecture.

He did talk about the scoop on Twitter the day he reported it. Some of it was deleted, i think, because he went on a bit of a rant about it:

MAJOR SCOOP hopefully coming later today. Just waiting for confirmation. This one, I promise, is BIG!

EXCLUSIVE?: German actress ANTJE TRAUE has straight-up been cast as Superman villainess FAORA in MAN OF STEEL. Link coming....

Here's the ANTJE TRAUE-SUPERMAN link: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118035968

Sorry to get all inside baseball there for a sec, but this stuff just makes me so frustrated. Apologies to anyone I offended.

@HercAICN Antje IS NOT playing Ursa. She's playing Faora, not circling. Read Variety.com, the industry's #1 news source...

Everyone can say whatever they want or insult whoever they want, if their weak egos make them feel the need to do so (referring specifically to the tweets quoted above.)
But facts are facts,
and the fact is that the Faora story has not been verified and is not official, no matter how many times you climb up a tree and shout that it is.

Of course nothing is official unless it's official. That's obvious. But that doesn't mean reporters completely make things up as you seem to claim on any rumour.

The thing about Sneider's report on this was he was outscooped by Deadline by a few minutes because he took the time to do some more digging and looked for confirmation about the rumour. He knew he had a scoop, mentioned that it was coming on Twitter, but waited until he had more info. until he published the report (thus Deadline had it up first.)

No one's saying it is official confirmation. But you go the exact opposite direction and say that it is based on nothing.

Also, there's a difference in the way Sneider reported the Gordon-Levitt story, saying JGL was "tipped" to play Alberto Falcone, that "insiders" told Variety. Whereas the Antje Traue as Faora story was more straightforward reporting that she had been cast.

Personally, I find when one constantly harps on something with "That doesn't mean it's official!" and "So and so was wrong about that so that means they're wrong about this! Don't believe them!"

That basically means they don't like, hate and/or despise the information/scoop in question and it becomes a game of "Shoot the messenger." To which this doctor would prescribe a Chill Pill to said patient.

And some people just don't like any scoop, rumour, or online movie news site! It's all lies, I tell ya!

I wonder if people who say stuff like that see the movie and bitterly mumble to themselves "Lucky guess, Sneider. Lucky guess."

Not even that. They'll just shut up. Remember all that trash-talking when the news broke in December '09 about Spider-Man 4 falling apart? Fanboys got typically vicious, name-calling, whiny, etc.

Then it turned out to be true. Nary a word was uttered.

WHEN ARE WE GETTING NEW NEWS!? I am going crazy here. It has been a month since Antje was revealed as Faora and even that was not "Official" news. What is going on here?

possible letting green lantern have the spotlight

if that's the case, it might be a while yet :(

I was really excited for Green Lantern, but if he is the root of the problem, than he is dead to me.

I'm not worried, yet. No reason to be.
That said, I can't help but think how hard it's been to get Superman on film going in the past.

I hope it's not Green Lantern. I'm still not sold on GL.
According to this http://supermanhomepage.com/news.php?readmore=9814#comments,
there is a "bombshell" announcement concerning Superman and the DC Universe, that is going to be dropped by Lee and Johns at Hero Complex convention, June 9-12.
Maybe a MOS costume reveal?
Although more likely another Superman (and DC universe) reboot because of Flashpoint. Why knows?
The last official news (the only kind that counts) we received was Michael Shannon's casting and it's been a while.
I think we may be in the dark till Comic Con.
