News flash!

Well most Superheroes are created through their personal tragedies, want of revenge, to make sure that what happened to them can't happen to others, or some personal reason like that.

That's why I want JK alive, and it's why I wasn't a fan of Singer's 'I'm so lonely' theme.

Superman has a heightened sense of gratefulness and appreciation of life, because he doesn't know where he's from. He knows he came down in a meteor shower so is probably lucky to be alive. And he knows he was incredibly lucky to be found in a field by JK and MK and not the government.

So being a journalist in a war zone, watching all the tragedies of our world, being in the thick of It around people not half as lucky as him, seeing children dead in the street from an unexploded bomb - it makes him feel helpless. He's the strongest man in the world but he feels helpless. Because he so badly wants to be able to do something to stop it... Not just to save one life, but to help change the world.

If that's not enough of a reason to don a disguise, change your whole way of life, accept the fact that you may never have the same things as other people (wife and kids), things that you desperately wanted, and dedicate yourself to DOING something about it... If there absolutely has to be a death of a family member in order to make that story compelling, then we've completely lost the concept of what a true hero is.

I just feel LR is several years too late. The last LR film back in the 80's did ok, but nothing to write home about.
Hobbit and trek are still my main concerns. I look for WB to move MOS to around thanksgiving.
BTW, Does the lawsuit say MOS has to be released in '012?

I think it has to be released before Spring 2013, when the rights revert to the Siegels and Shusters.

Cool, thanx. And since we all know blockbusters aren't (usually) released then, its 2012 or bust. November is looking more and more likely to me.

It looks like maybe WB is purposefully withholding selecting and announcing a release date until they know when all the competition will be landing.
Are there any other major movie releases around that time, besides Supes, yet to scratch a release date?
Seems like this is a deliberate move on their part.
Still, I'm starting to feel strange that we haven't heard anything in a while.

DC has yet to release info regarding the new Superman titles and their creative teams; maybe this news is being released on Friday, where Jim and Geoff are?

I thought that info was fake?

Seconded.

very well could be false info. I'm not 100% on it but a friend of mine has heard it as well from a few different places. Now whether they got their info from the same source I don't know that either

There is a potential Ghostbusters 3, The X-Files 3 and who the hell knows when Ninja Turtles will come out

and what exactly does this have to do with Superman other than the two movies come out close to one another??

And supposedly we will be hearing the announcement of Jax-Ur, General Lane, and supposedly Brainiac...don't hold me to that, but it's what I've heard

What about Metallo and the African guy from Birthright?
:woot:When are they going to be announced?

Maybe it's because TDKR is shooting now, so we're getting stuff in daily drips and drabs, but the lack of new info on this flick is just starting to kill me!

You'd think we would have some new rumors, or story boards, or even fake stuff leaking, but... the silence is deafening!

Anyone else going nutty?

Well, the movie hasn't even started filming yet.

I'm going nutty... well actually I just am nutty and it's causing me to have a seriously over the top bad reaction to lack of Superman information.

It's probably just because we were getting fairly consistent casting announcements spread out, and it felt like we were due one about 2 weeks ago... and still nothing. And people keep saying 'oh, news is expected on so and so day' and then nothing...

To not even have any rumours? Even stupid ones about Lindsey Lohan... well it's scary. It's horrible being in the dark, especially when we have so many reasons not to trust them when it comes to the Superman franchise... we have a history of dissapointment and failed projects.

I know it's probably because the focus is on Green Lantern, or because they wanted to do all the DC relaunch stuff first so that people didn't associate any of the changes with what's going to be happening in the movie (fingers crossed)...

But i'm kind of hoping we are rewarded for our patience with two casting announcements and a hinted plot point all in one go :p

When Cavill was announced we were told filming would start this month. Start worrying if it doesn't because TDK has started on schedule.

It's almost midday, and we've had no info from DC regarding Superman yet!
WTF???
Why are they holding it back? They released the specs for every other new DC reboot title except Superman!
C'mon DC!

Because there's supposed to be a Superman announcement tomorrow.

Filming starts in August.

Not really... it's a movie production that's not scheduled to start shooting until August (maybe even late August). It's now barely mid-June.

Anyone remember the days when we didn't know every little detail about a movie before it finished production?

Let's give it time... I know we're all excited, but at least let the movie start shooting before freaking out too much that we haven't learned an important new factoid in x-amount of weeks.

So filming starts in about two months and we have no idea who jor-el, lara, perry, jimmy, and Lex will be. We also dont know who will do the score and the FX.
That seems like alot of stuff left to do in such a short amount of time.
I refuse to believe that most of the things I listed aren't already taken care of. I'm betting/hoping they will release a boatload of info on us all at once.

Yeah, I think that's what will happen. I think that's probably why we never got an official announcment over the Faora thing either. Variety probably just lucked out there and got the scoop with that character. I'm guessing that the majority of roles have already been cast and they're just waiting to unveil it all at once.

It's not a big deal really. I mean alot can happen in 2 months and stuff like the composer and the FX is post-production, so they dont have to annouce that before filming.

And maybe the remaining cast wont be that big a part of the movie, so that's why they havent announced them yet. Or yeah, maybe they'll just wait until Comicon and blow our socks off with good stuff and then movie into production fast.

As it pertains to the film itself, this deadline with the copyright issue may be a good thing. It pressures them into taking some action. Because we know how they like to procrastinate and second-guess themselves.

I read a story recently stating that the Judge might award the heirs custody of the 1930s version of Superman, but give Warner Bros. and DC the rights to the modern Superman, if they are deemed sufficiently different enough properties to be classified as two separate intellectual properties. This apparently happened with Todd McFarlane and one of his collaborators who was suing him for the rights to Medieval Spawn. The Judge decided that Medieval Spawn was different enough from vanilla Spawn to be considered a different IP, and thus Todd McFarlane does not own that version of Spawn and the guy who does own it is allowed to do with it as he pleases.

Honestly though, if that happens then DC is getting the lion's share, because Superman has evolved a great deal since the 1930s and the modern superman is the one people associate the character with. If such a ruling is enough to keep both parties happy though, then I'd be OK with it.
