The next Alan Wake game is set to be an Xbox Live Arcade game. More info at the VGAs.

The original could have been a real success if only MS hadn't foolishly released it the same day as the FREAKING Red Dead Redemption. Why the hell did they release their game right next to a Rockstar game is beyond me. What's next? Releasing Gears 4 along side GTA5?

Well... at least Alan Wake is in it, I hope it progresses the story forward.

After being delisted from digital storefronts in May 2017 due to expiring music licenses, the PC version of Alan Wake is back on Steam, developer Remedy Entertainment announced. “Other digital platforms,” presumably including the delisted Xbox 360 version, will follow.

As a Halloween promotion, the Steam version of Alan Wake will only cost $2.99 until November 1. After that, the price will change to $14.99.

Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:

About

When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.

Presented in the style of a TV series, Alan Wake features the trademark Remedy storytelling and pulse-pounding action sequences. As players dive deeper and deeper into the mystery, they’ll face overwhelming odds, plot twists, and cliffhangers. It’s only by mastering the Fight With Light combat mechanic that they can stay one step ahead of the darkness that spreads across Bright Falls.

With the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller, Alan Wake’s intense atmosphere, deep and multilayered story, and exceptionally tense combat sequences provide players with an entertaining and original gaming experience.

Key Features

  • Enhanced for PC.
  • Includes Alan Wake Special Episodes “The Signal” and “The Writer.”
  • Experience Alan Wake’s Pacific Northwest in higher resolutions and higher fidelity than the Xbox 360 version.
  • Fully configurable mouse and keyboard support, or if you prefer to play with the Steam or Microsoft gamepad connected to your PC, you can do that too!
  • Lots of customizable graphics settings and support for 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios!
  • Multithreaded engine that takes advantage of quad core CPUs.
  • Additional features our fans have sought after such as field of view adjustment as well as “hide HUD.”
  • Works with AMD Eyefinity 3D three-screen mode.

should MS have made moves to acquire Remedy? perhaps they should have, cuz then their new game Control could have been Xbox exclusive.

Now, Control is multiplat and Sony secured exclusive content dead for PS4.

imo, MS should have made that play for exclusive content. or one step further, just acquire Remedy all together.

The publishing rights for the Alan Wake series have returned to Remedy Entertainment from Microsoft, which published both Alan Wake and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, Remedy Entertainment announced.

The news comes via a Remedy Entertainment press release announcing a one-time income of 2.5 million euros in royalties from previously released games, which will be paid to the company during the second half-year period of 2019.

yep. a big missed opportunity, imo. Now with Remedy getting Alan Wake IP back, there's a chance that game can go multiplat. And I've even heard rumors Sony may be sniffing around to acquire Remedy.

I've also heard stories that apparently Phil Spencer, for whatever reason, wasn't a big fan of Alan Wake. so that's why that IP hasn't been pursued lately. and perhaps it could mean the relationship between MS and Remedy wasn't so great.

so who knows.......

Oh, if he doesn’t like it he doesn’t like it I guess. They certainly need to keep up the acquisitions until they are competing properly in exclusives either way. This is where they should have an advantage with the need for top original content for their streaming service and being one of the most cash-rich companies in the world.
