Written by DAN ABNETT & ANDY LANNING

THE THANOS IMPERATIVE is over…but who and what has survived? What happened to Thanos? What about Lord Mar-Vell and the Cancerverse? Who rules the Kree and the Shi’Ar? Is anyone left to guard the galaxy? And who will hold the shattered civilizations of the Marvel Universe together in this bleak new age? Find out from the creative team that delivered the cosmic event that IGN.com hailed as “Unbelievably incredible & unimaginably entertaining.”

32 PGS./ONE-SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

So apparently something big happens to reshape the universe again at the end of The Thanos Imperative. I wonder how everything will wind up in the end...

I got the feeling 90% of the Guardians are gonna bite it next issue.

I mean, especially after that last page.

If Star-Lord, Rocket, and Cosmo survive, I could deal with the rest of them dying.

I wanted to argue because I love them all so much but the more I'm thinking about it... no, you're right. Those are the three great ones. I don't think they'd kill off Gamora but the rest wouldn't necessarilly be missed. Jack Flag would be the most missed for me but not enough to cry over. I loved Drax but his screwy look turned me off and I was actually cool with his death scene, so no biggie.

I would prefer Mantis, Jack Flag, and Major Victory stay alive, too. But I could get over their deaths. Star-Lord, Rocket, and Cosmo are the biggies.

Mantis has grown on me a lot but I wouldn't be broken if she died. Major Victory still feels like a nobody and I'm only rooting for him because he's lasted this long. I do like Jack Flag though :)

I figure Bug might be safe due to his being in the Enigma Force book (I think that's what it's called)

Part of me wonders if this could be a situation similar to when several other characters "died". As in, they don't die...they're lost in another dimension, or time. Most of the Guardians are literally in another universe, at the other side of a tear in space/time. It is possible that not all of them may escape it, at least immediately. Rocket does, and the cover implies that Gamora does. Nova is also likely. But what of the rest? Dun dun DUUUNNN!

That actually is what I'm expecting to happen. The Fault closes and most of them are trapped inside. The sucky side of that though is that I'm bored with the whole Fault storyline and if that happens then likely it'll be a continuing plot point in whatever comes after Imperative.

Wow, stabby. I wonder how Thanos survives that. I mean, it's not like he just recently survived having his atoms dispersed or anything. ;)

Heh, he mentioned Shuma-Gorath as his deity. I recall quite a few people called that. Between that and INVADERS NOW!, he's getting around these days.

Yep, a whole nine months ago. Way to go, dude!

In a way, it does make sense for Shuma-Gorath to be doing a bit more. Dr. Strange isn't the Sorcerer Supreme anymore, and he barely kept Gorath at bay when he was. Maybe he "senses" that Strange isn't top wizard anymore and is starting to make more waves again.

He's a rather lame character in Marvel Vs Capcom. :o

And according to Wikipedia he's somewhat similar to Cthulhu

It's an otherdimensional god from HP Lovecraft's fiction. Not really surprising; The Thanos Imperative and the Cancerverse has had a very Lovecraftian feel from the beginning, so it makes sense that DnA would use an already-established Lovecraftian Marvel villain for it.

Hmm, shouldn't there be some kind of trademark on "ftaghn?" I mean it's not a word the company made up like "flark" or "grife" or "d'ast," it's something they ganked from another series of works, and aren't being very subtle about.

I'm only half-serious.

Lovecraft seems to be in the public domain. I can't even begin to count the number of things that have used "Cthulhu" or some approximation of it. There are whole comics devoted to Lovecraftian stuff from various companies.

Wow, apparently there's a ton of craziness surrounding the copyrights to Lovecraft's work, according to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._P._Lovecraft#Copyright

They suggest that, due to a failure to renew the copyrights after 1928, pretty much everything but some Weird Tales stories bought by someone else are in the public domain now. But it's confusing, plus it's Wikipedia, so take that with a grain of salt.

So yeah how about that ending?

I actually felt a little sad. For Thanos. :oldrazz:
