I wonder if the Cancerverse Avengers made it a priority to take out Ultron and that's why we don't see him among the robots ?
To be fair, the idea of robots not being effected by crazy stuff that effects life was done by Fred Van Lente in some of the later MARVEL ZOMBIES sequels
That was a bit awkward to me, too. I kept thinking of the old Sesame Street "one of these things is not like the others" thing. Also, Sepulveda's Surfer is still astonishingly horrible. But the issue overall was great. It's interesting how despite Beta Ray Bill being there as Space Thor, it's Ronan who is doing the whole "hammer swinging while flying and screaming" pose.
THANOS IMPERATIVE #3 was awesome as usual, but I was a little dismayed by howConsidering how reliable DnA are as writers, I thought it was a beat that could have been executed better.randomly Bill appeared. Nova's with the assembled space monarchies and calls for an assemblage of bad-asses, and Bill is just...there. No introduction, no, "I was just passing by from the last mini series no one read," just POOF, someone said his name three times, and Bill was there, JUST in time for THE RIGHT STUFF double page splash, and not a moment sooner. I mean, Ronan and Gladiator haven't done much in a while, but they did previously. Surfer, Nova, and Quasar have been heavily involved in this mini as well as other stuff. But Bill? Just there. He was never even foreshadowed with some throwaway panel appearance in a prior issue, he's just there.
It's comparable to an issue of, say, SECRET AVENGERS where a crisis has brought all three Avengers rosters together and Steve has to choose seven to walk off into battle with, and he chooses the big three and one from each roster...and then at the end is GILGAMESH THE FORGOTTEN ONE, who was never shown at any point in the story before.
But beyond that, it was all awesome.
Yep, they've built several great events in their own right into one truly massive epic.![]()
Anyway, I'm sure Thanos is fine. Unless being the avatar of Death makes him uniquely able to die regardless of the circumstances (which would be a bit dumb), he's sitting in a universe where death is impossible.
Some of the cosmic big guns need to show up. Like LT or Infinity and Oblivion etc.
Drax once again proves he's the ultimate badass in the universe with that last page.
First time was when he ripped Thanos' heart out.
Second time was when he said "we all have to die" and blew up the entire Knowhere compound in the early GOTG SI arc.
And now this. "Disentgration. Kill confirmed".
I'm pretty sure the mutations are a result of the Many-Angled Ones' feeding them power or something.Agreed, that would help.
True. Although the amusing thing is, this is the SECOND time Drax has gone off and attacked Thanos while he was, ironically, trying to help the space heroes. Drax managed to tear out Thanos' heart in ANNIHILATION only because he was distracted trying to help Silver Surfer and Moondragon free Galactus from Annihilus' control machines. And this time, Thanos is working on destroying the Cancerverse for them.
As Corp mentioned, though, like with Bullseye's death in SHADOWLAND, it was more of an obligatory moment than anything, because no one dies in the Cancerverse. I imagine that would apply even for travelers to that dimension; there is no Death to claim them there. Heck, if anything, Drax may have simply helped Thanos become the avatar better.
That, or cause Thanos to mutate and get angrier, like with those Cancerverse Defenders.
Haven't read 3 yet, but I wanted to see if anyone noticed that HUBERT was with the Artificial Life Brigade? You'd think HERBIE would have been the bot but it was definately the post HERBIE / Byrne Era HUBERT.
Anywho... thought that was a weird choice.
