Next Big Cosmic Event:The Thanos Imperative

Looking forward to it. I want Realm of Kings to be over already so we can get into this, which sounds much better.

Not this time. This time, we need all the power of the first division cosmic heroes, and that means the likes of Surfer, Quasar, Nova and Gladiator SIDE BY SIDE. Cosmic dream time. An awful lot of cosmic fanboy hearts just skipped a beat, didn't they? We know ours did!

Noone here realizes just how giddy it makes me to see Nova now placed along the likes of the Surfer and Gladiator as a major cosmic force not to be trifled with. :D

DnA: Nova is a serious big league hero now, and this story puts him front and center with the big boys. His experience -- and his enhanced power -- is really going to count. He is one of the key focus characters of this story.

This also makes me look forward to this story so much more than I did Conquest. I love that Nova will be figuring into the story so prominently.

I hope the whole Corps is involved as more than cannon fodder this time. Seeing Philo leading the Corps into battle alongside Rocky and the Guardians would be awesome. :hehe:

I agree, seeing Philo and Nova lead the Corps into battle would be pretty awesome.

I want them to do more with Lindy and Tre...oh, and Qubit.

''Marvel Assistant Editor Ben Morse Confirms Nova and GoTG On A Skip Month''

Quote:
So we have been waiting and waiting for something from Marvel in regards to the missing Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy solicits for May.
Well, we finally got our answer!
Marvel Assistant Editor Ben Morse, who just so happens to be a fellow "rabid" Nova fan and posts at the Comic Bloc Forums, responded to a fan's question regarding what was up with the missing solicits with a confirmation, "Si" ("yes" - for you non-bilingual folks!) that they were on a skip month!
Here is the link to the post.

So it looks like both Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy are not being canceled!
Thanks to Paul Nolan from our forums for the tip!

Thank goodness.

I would not have been happy if they were cancelled...maybe this is so the issues don't spoil the beginning or something major in the Thanos story.

I dont get a skip issue.

throw in a token stand alone (even flashback)story for me...get guest staff to do it, no problems here...thats what comics used to do.It doesnt all have to be profound and serial. Anyway I can think of plenty standalone stories that were the most profound comics Ive ever read.

There is only one response possible for this.

That response is

I totally want a scene with Nova, Quasar, Star-Lord, and the Surfer actually doing a slow-mo "Armageddon walk" now. :hehe:

I've never read anything about Thanos before, but Marvel cosmic has been smoking since War of Kings so I'm hyped for this more than anything 'Heroic Age'.

I have to say, they had me when Abnett & Lanning have stated that Star-Lord and Nova would be their "main heroes". I mean, I understand wanting to amp other heroes in ANNIHILATION CONQUEST and WAR OF KINGS, but it's been years since Quill and Nova were the BMOC in the space event, and it's about time they did. I liked Thanos' death in ANNIHILATION, but the Fault is almost a literal plot hole that allows anything to happen, so why not bring back space's biggest bad guy? As well as focusing on the stars of their ongoing titles, Nova and Quill.

Can't wait.

That would be cool. Although they may have to get Silver Surfer un-attached to Galactus. And give him a personality. I've always found him bland. Although alongside characters who aren't might allow him to seem distinct.

I never read any of the other Abnett/Lanning cosmic stuff, but I may give this a go. Thanos used to be one of my fave Marvel baddies, and I'm happy to see he's not dead anymore.

Yes! and then I'd have something other than IM and Thor to talk to you about! Marvel cosmic is fantastic at the minute.

It's been fantastic for about four years, least for me. Just in varying degrees. :o

Yep, everything since Annihilation has been great, barring a few parts of Annihilation: Conquest. Those weren't even bad, either, just mediocre compared to the excellence of the rest of the cosmic line.

And I merged the threads, you vultures. Happy? :argh:

This.

War of Kings is meh if you aren't into the X-Men cosmic **** (Shi'ar) or Inhumans, but overall everything cosmic has been top notch and higher since Annihilation's prequel.

ANNIHILATION CONQUEST had it's flaws, but to be fair, it was Abnett & Lanning's first space event in the new century. If THAT was their baby steps, I can easily forgive it. Sure, the main protagonists they chose had little charisma, but they really made a great Ultron (see what I did there?).

Now, to me, WAR OF KINGS made sense. Abnett & Lanning wrapped up a subplot that had cycled down the X-Books for a few years, but more to the point, it didn't make sense to ignore the Shi'ar in these big space events just because, "oh, they're X-Men stuff". Beyond Wolverine, the X-Men rarely interact in other realms of Marvel, and that usually kills their "outsider" motif; it is hard to be an outsider when you rarely interact past a sphere of books in which everyone is usually a mutant too. I liked a lot of the stuff done with the Inhumans, and Vulcan proved to be a great villain. My major quibble was despite it all, Havok was the one with emotional justification to take out Vulcan; Black Bolt? Not as much. I still don't like that he was cheated out of his defining moment, while Cyclops at the very least has managed to take out Apocalypse or Mr. Sinister when it counted. Still, it was still a far better story than SECRET INVASION.

This seems a bit of a return to form. Big space villain, and after two years of giving other characters a shot at prime time, Abnett & Lanning are returning to the big guns, Nova and the Guardians. Sounds cool.

I was sorta out of it with War of Kings. I know of the characters and what not, but for the life of me I just couldn't care for 80% of the cast. And I agree, Conquest had it's flaws - but it was still one of the best books coming out at the time ;). Abnett and Lanning hit the jackpot when they started with the cosmic stuff, there isn't a single thing they've written since then that is bad (except maybe the Wraith mini before Conquest), and few mediocre ones. The rest are great. Annihilation still stands as one of my favorite stories of all time, and the series it spawns have been nothing less of a rollercoaster of badassedness and space thuggery.
