Next Big Cosmic Event:The Thanos Imperative

Gonna start reading through everything cosmic since it was relaunched with Annihilation soon. I've kept up with Nova for the most part and loved it, but I've never read everything in order as a big picture, so I can't wait to get started.

I'm actually doing that right now since I recently found a copy of Emperor Vulcan for cover price. Figured it would be a way to kill a month while I currently can't add to my trade collection (unless I can find someone to pawn off all these old Marvel Overpower cards on to).

Funny how Thanos is joining the side of the angels against the forces of the Magus and his Universal Church and the the natives of the Fault. He's boning his love Death , so you'd think he'd be happy for once. I guess he really is a "mad" titan.

Well, we haven't seen any indication that he wanted to come back. The Universal Church of Truth resurrected his ass. Also, solicitations for future issues say Thanos is super-pissed after his resurrection--perhaps because he was happy to have finally gotten to be with Death, only to have it ripped away by this resurrection.

Guardians of the Galaxy #25
Written by: Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning
Art by: Brad Walker
Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 21, 2010

He's back…Thanos! How did he return? Why is he back? And what does the appearance of the galaxy's #1 threat mean for our rag-tag band of universal protectors?

- Marvel

Yeah, he's one of the founding Guardians. The original roster was him, Major Victory, Charlie-27, and Yondu, each the last survivors of their races after the Badoon wiped them out. Martinex also leads the Galactic Guardians, an offshoot of the Guardians of the Galaxy, later on.

I mean like, Iceman gets lost in space and becomes an ice planet and dude is his last descendant.

No one can see past all the ice shards to tell. It's like a freezer exploded.

Not unless Iceman somehow becomes Pluto, since that's where Martinex is from. Oh yeah, Pluto's still a planet in the Guardians' alternate future. Reason #192498 why it's totally superior to reality. :awesome:

Okay, he gets lost on Pluto and knocks up a snow drift.

I'm going to go defrost my freezer now so I don't have to think of that every time I get out some chicken cutlets for dinner.

But Martinex isn't even Ice....he's more like a crystal alien.

It looks like there are a council of cross universe/time Guardians and Starhawk kind of represents them all. It seems "out" Major Victory gets to meet them and may even be their rep in the 616 universe. It may be interesting, he may actually get fleshed out or at least able to dish out exposition.

Any development for Major Victory would be welcomed at this point. A lot can be done with this character but with so many others to deal with, and the overarching stories to go through, it still might be a while before something really interesting can be done. Hope this issue is a start.

Huh, it's been 2 years for GotG, hasn't it? I hasn't felt like 2 years.

It would be cool if Major Victory and Jack Flag interacted more. In their own ways they both are trying to pay homage to Captain America.

That's because it's a fantastic series. :)

Indeed it is. One of the best team books on the shelves.

I am surprised Flag hasn't really confronted Victory on the whole shield thing. Then again, he hates this cosmic stuff and probably doesn't want to be bothered enough to ask about it.

Not that I blame him, sometimes.

They should totally include that as a backup strip.

Jack Flag: So, how come you have Captain America's shield? I distinctly remember it still being on Earth with that new Cap when I left.
Major Victory: Well, I come from about 1000 years in the future, so I guess this isn't so much your Cap's shield as it is the shield that your Cap's current shield will one day become. Plus, Peter tells me I'm from an alternate universe to yours, so maybe it's not your Cap's shield at all, but rather the shield of the Cap from my universe's past.
