Next Big Cosmic Event:The Thanos Imperative

Hopefully the Groot/Rocky mini is used to get Nova and Star Lord back to the universe and that can then be discussed. But for now, it's an unresolved loose end, sadly.

How is it a loose end?

I thought the end was pretty definitive as delivered.

Oh, I was just thinking about the people on the final pages of this week's issue. I don't expect to see Vulcan again anytime soon. Or ever.

Prepare to be disappointed if you think he and Blackbolt are dead. They will be back out of the blue, just like Nova and Star Lord. :o

Blackbolt definitely, but Vulcan is still up in the air for me.

How so? How Saal returned was never explained, and we never knew what happened to them afterwards.
I don't know who or what a Saal is, so. Assuming "them" refers to Star-Lord and Nova, the definitive ending of The Thanos Imperative is that they are lost or dead, regardless of what we as readers might believe or think went on with the writing team and editorial per long-term agreement or what have you.

Hence, not a loose end. Loose end refers to something not resolved.

The "them" refurs to Saal and Tarcel, not Nova and Star-Lord.

Tarcel was a Nova Corps member who became Nova Prime during Richard's absense. He was beaten down during the War of Kings and taken prisoner by the Shi'ar Empire but was then rescued by Saal. Saal is a former Nova who went crazy with its full power but reformed and died a hero back in the 90's. So he shows up, saves Tarcel, and that's the last we saw of either of them. Neither ever returned to the Nova Corps and nothings been mentioned since.

Thus, loose end

Well, they're not loose ends of The Thanos Imperative, and that's what this thread is about.

So there!

Well THanos Imperative isn't done right? Isn't Devastation coming up or is that just like a one issue deal?

Most people thought that Saal's return was related to the fault ergo the cancerverse..maybe it was intended to be but never elaborated on.

In any event it's pretty lame to end a comic to have a long dead character return to save a semi-important character at the time and not ever even mention it again..it was a splash page and everything. It's just about the weirdest thing Ive ever seen in a comic. Not like the comic was canceled abruptly either, that moment happned like what 2 years ago?

What do you mean? Phyla's still dead.

When Death turned away from Thanos and he was screaming at her, we got a look at her face right before she disappeared, and it was Phyla. At least that's who I thought it was.

Er, I think that was just Death with a fleshy face. She likes to wear one sometimes. Has since the '90s, at least.

Cool. Hope it's good. There've been some... odd... takes on the Surfer over the years (to say the least).

Pad did well with him in Skaar. I hear he was decent in Planet Hulk too but I've not read that.

He was all right. Kind of a wuss, but what do you expect in a Hulk comic?

Indeed. Looks like Nova's space team does more here than in the event proper. :p

I still say Beta Ray Bill's appearance has been random as hell. Like when Wolverine decided to randomly appear in the last leg of SHADOWLAND for no damn reason besides, well, he's Wolverine.
