Cage has well and truly passed his use by date, the only stop left for him is direct to DVD, and he's well on his way to it.
What's with the Cage hate? He is a great actor. Sure his last few films have been absolute dog **** and he hasn't really put that much effort in. But his last few roles haven't really required much effort.
Anyone who says he is a crap actor doesn't have a clue about acting or hasn't seen his best films and performances. Just watch Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas, Matchstick Men, Adaption and even Lord of War was pretty decent. They are just off the top of my head.
I bet most of the people hating on him haven't seen his best roles. It's like me saying Bob De Niro is a mediocre actor after only seeing Rocky and Bullwinkle and those crap Meet the Parents films.
You give Nic Cage a role he can really immerse himself into, really get his teeth into, and he would be brilliant. Guaranteed.
Notice that most of his best roles are edgy, erratic sometimes eccentric characters. I think he could be a pretty good Riddler.

Yea well Riddler is the only Bat villain i could see him as. He has that kooky, quirky thing going on.
I wouldn't say that. You don't suddenly lose the ability to act. He has just been in some crap films recently.
But apparently he is pretty good in ''Knowing''.
You do lose the ability to care though.
lack⋅lus⋅terwtf dude?
I wouldn't call him lackluster, more that he's become...lazy and comfortable recently.
Yeeeaaaahhh, gonna have to complete disagree on that, bud. Bale's been slacking in my eyes too, but his best roles are better than Cage's best for me.Matchstick Men, Leaving Las Vegas, Adaption, these are not lackluster. Sure he has a certain type but then so does Christian Bale. he's a better actor than Bale that's fer sure.
Depth of character is one thing, that's pretty much up to the script. But screen presence and personality are up to the actor. And Cage. Is. Boring. What's with the Cage hate? He is a great actor. Sure his last few films have been absolute dog **** and he hasn't really put that much effort in. But his last few roles haven't really required much effort.
Yes Ace, that analogy is exactly the one I made. I should charge royalty fees considering the amount of times I've seen you use it.Anyone who says he is a crap actor doesn't have a clue about acting or hasn't seen his best films and performances. Just watch Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas, Matchstick Men, Adaption and even Lord of War was pretty decent. They are just off the top of my head.

Haha, can't believe you remembered. Thought I could get away with it..Actually, the Rocky and Bullwinkle and Meet the Parents one is mine, yours was Stardust and Meet the Parents![]()
He's had a shot with the genre. He starred in one. MSJ and Cage are undeniable huge comic book geeks, but passion is not enough to carry a film. That was evident in the horrid directing, and yet again, lackluster performance.A comic book fan such as Cage would absolutely relish playing a villain in a comic book film, particularly the follow up to TDK. I would imagine it would be like a new lease of life. You can't deny that when given the material to work with, he is a great actor.
If Nolan were to cast him, I wouldn't be worried about technical skill. I'd be more concerned with acting presence and celebrity recognition. I'm usually against A-list casting, but I'd be willing to accept exceptions in which said actor is just too perfect for a role. Cage doesn't strike me as that type. It's not like he would be offered the part to Bangkok Dangerous 2 or National Treasure 3. It would be a villain in the new Batman movie. A actor of his quality should be able to bring his A-Game to that sorta role no matter how many years he has been in crap.
If you make yourself known like this... I have a feeling Nolan will shy away from you in terms of casting.
It seems Nolan hates to cast predictably. Otherwise he would have cast Crispin Glover as the Joker right away.
