Bloody Disgusting is being told that Nikolaj Arcel (Island of Lost Souls ) is looking to direct Dead Man, a Crow-esque adaptation for Warner Bros. Pictures. Guillermo del Toro is set to produce the pic that follows a a circus tightrope walker who is murdered and returns as a ghost with the ability to inhabit the bodies if others in order to find his killer. We're being told this is based on the DC character "Deadman" that first appeared in Strange Adventures #205 (October 1967). You can read more about him here or read on for a pic.

Sounds like this might be actually taking off!

yeah, it's been a while. It didn't go anywhere probably because of Witchblade (assuming that it didn't do so well)

DEADMAN couldn't get developed as a TV series. What makes this attempt different?

Not that I wouldn't love an entertaining DEADMAN movie.

probably del toro being a producer/his production house helping to do it, plus it seems right now besides gl which is due to start filming in a few months(bearing no delays with possible location move) that wb would want to go with lesser know, less risk characters like others have said that could be made at a lower cost of like 50-80million dollars or so.

it does suck a bit that these lesser known/ more unknown types are the ones to see the light before flash, wonder woman, aquaman, martian manhunter, etc..... types of characters. Though i do understand the money reason behind doing these lesser known types. They dont have to sink 200million dollars + and hope for a huge ass return to be sucessful when they can do these lower ranked guys for like 50million dollars and likely triple production cost with its theatical run.

Yeah, I know...It seems like it's a numbers game when it comes to WB projects..

Yea which still sucks for fans who want to see a flash, or ww, aquaman, etc.... higher up guys and not just batman being the only top dog character to get their spotlight on the big screen. Though i do wish dc the best of luck for any characters who are or soon to be getting on the screen. Hopefully they see now you need to trust the source material dont deviate much from it, and get the right people on board for these things.

i think it also depends on the producers pushing for the project. I think a dude like Del Toro has some weight. Then again, look how Joel Silver is lagging on Wonder Woman and Swamp thing..

I know we need to get guys on board who can push to get these things happen on a quick but not to qick turn around. Not end up with a joel silver who has been sitting on wonder woman for what 15 yrs i think it is and still cant keep a writer/director on board.

I think WB needs to give Joel a deadline..if not, give WW to someone else.

I know its like marvel giving fox the rights to xmen/dd/ff/ghostrider, and who knows when those will ever find their way back to fully be with marvel(and disney). If they are going to give a project to one guy their should be a time limit i say of 2 or 3 years max if you dont have something rolling on cameras by then your off. and it goes back to the drawing board with someone else.

I can see Deadman being in the same group as The Losers and Jonah Hex. since those movies are coming out in 2010, I can see Deadman getting released in 2011, along with the high profile Green Lantern film...

so anybody know anything about this director? i checked him out on imbd but haven't heard of any of his movies (i think all of them are danish).
