No Origin... Confirmed by Latino Review

Just cause theres no origin doesnt mean its not a reboot. TBH does anyone even think this is true?

If it is true:
Does no origin have to do with the legal battle?

I would've prefered an origin also, but as I said before I would be content either way. I'm still hoping for some origin elements within the script.

Its as much of a Reboot as TIH was. :woot:

I did not feel that TIH was attatched to to the 2003 Hulk.

Since neither Singer nor Routh will be in this new Superman movie, it's a reboot, and not a sequel or continuation of SR. I don't mind not having another origin movie of Supe because quite frankly, we all know Superman's origin and it doesn't need to be done yet again. Heck, they have an entire TV show devoted to Superman's origin called Smallville. Just focus on better stuff, like Superman beating the crap out of Brainiac or Darkseid.

I'm well aware that it's a reboot. I'm just disappointed that there isn't an origin attached to that reboot lable. But like I said, oh well.

I'm sure if the film is kick ass you will be very happy :D

I thought that something was said about them NOT being able to do an origin story due to the legal issues that were going on with the franchise?

I sure will. I'm just looking on the brightside right now. The bad news is they aren't or can't do an origin story. The good news is, they are finally giving the Donnerverse a rest and letting the new writer play with Superman. The good outweighs the bad...as long as Goyer doesn't direct.

That probably is the reason which is why I will try to keep my b**ching in a mininmum.:cwink:

I wonder if this lack of an origin has anything to do with Smallville.

Supposedly that was the reason they avoided the origins with SR.

Yeah agreed there, I love the Donnerverse but its time for a change.

yea i would perfer to see full on origin in reboot. But i would be happy if we get at least a little bit. Like since we know the heirs have the rights to krypton stuff, Maybe we will just see some smallville/prior to going to metropolis life. Then if the legal stuff gets settled down the road have it be an option to talk about in sequel. or if the legal stuff can get settled prior to filming and a redraft can happen. Maybe include more origin stuff.

Can they still kick the film off in Metropolis with Superman in Year One? Similar to how L+C started?

When they say no origins, I assume the Krypton/Smallville stuff is out. Then again, it says Goyer wrote it as a Kryptonian epic... so it's confusing.

probably be how they will handle things if we cant get much of krypton seen in the film. Though i beleive the origin deal with the heirs is they have rights to krypton stuff right. So maybe krypton stuff will be allued to in the film, and we see a bit of smallville-and what ever else before coming to metropolis life. Then if the legal stuff isnt settled to after the film comes out to be used in sequel. Or if the can get settled prior to filming to add krypton stuff in.

1. Thank God that Routh is out and they are rebooting.
2. There was never going to be an origin, wake the **** up, WB doesn't own the origin anymore.
3. Luther should be relegated to a gangster level sub villain like in Dark Knight.
4. Brainiac is the single dumbest Superman fanboy villain.

I would love to get a new origin movie but if a "no origin" movie is a way we can get a man cast as Superman instead of a boy then I'm all for it.

well we still dont know if there is fully no origin at all or if there is some origin but krypton stuff cant be to heavy and they would have to use other stuff. Or if the whole legal stuff gets settled prior to filming or wb pays for the rights to use it could be there.

Daniel Cudmore for Superman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This could be a strategic move. I don't see how Goyer could tie in Kryptonian mythology if they don't have some sort of plan in implementing that later on in the series.

I'm surprised. I think you even mentioned as much that you thought WB wouldn't allow that to get in their way for the next movie, meaning keeping all possibilities open for the next film. So WB doesn't plan on settling this but instead try to work around it? They should allow themselves to have all options available for the next film. If the screenwriter decides not to go the origin route then so be it. But to have restrictions from the getgo seems kinda lame.

I'm not thrilled about the news that it won't even have a wiff of origin should this prove accurate, the only thing I'm somewhat pleased with, is that Routh & Singer won't be brought back.. should that also prove accurate.

I find it baffling that Superman is going to be the only superhero to have a big screen film franchise in the past 10 years that HASN'T started with some sort of an origin film..

yea i thought with that last win they got the other yr it was just that the siegels gain the rights to various aspects of the krypton origin/its destruction, and certain aspects of jorel/lara names? So they could easily just allued to krypton stuff, and we just see some origin bits of smallville life. Then like it has been pointed out either they hold off using krypton more to sequel if their is no settlements made with the heirs prior to filming?
