Nova!!

Just read about Nova over at Yahoo. Had forgotten about him a bit. He was one of my favorite characters years back. Richard Rider was always an awesome character and the best Nova. Marvel needs to give this guy a movie! Maybe he'll show up in GOTG 2. I'm not sure though. I feel he needs to start off maybe Earth born first before he does the galactic thing. I don't know. What do you guys think.

I think they need to continue to develop Rhomann Dey and the Nova Corps, the infinity gem could be used as a source of the corps power. Then, during or after the infinity war, Xandar could be attacked - perhaps by someone working for Thanos, Zorr maybe. Dey could chase the perpetrator to Earth to seek justice or revenge, both could crash and then you have a torch passing film with an injured Dey instructing Rider to find Zorr, stop him and bring him to justice. John C. Reilly did a great job as Dey in GOTG, so I'd like to see him taking a big role in the story of Nova.

The only problem is that the origins of Captain Marvel, and Nova could be very similar to Green Lantern if Marvel aren't careful.

Once GOTG is done,Nova should take over as Marvels Cosmic franchise.

Not likely. James Gunn has said he doesn't like Nova and that even ignoring that he doesn't want anymore Earth heroes in the team because Star-Lord makes them redundant.

I have a feeling we will see Sam Alexander sooner rather than later. Like the Scott Lang Ant-Man they've been building the character up too much recently for it to not be in anticipation of a movie.

I'm hoping the Nova Corp is using the power stone to rebuild Xander and make the Corp more powerful. And once Thsnos or hid children come to collect the power from the Worldmind is giving to Sam in a last ditch effort.

As much as everyone wants Richard Rider to be NOVA it AINT gonna happen. Seems they are focusing more on Sam Alexander...I can see him a part of a New Warriors film.

I can't believe I never realized that until now. Although "dick rider" is not a term I remember hearing in common usage until the last 5+ years or so. But man that sucks. Ugh.

I agree. Keep that name out of the MCU. If you must use the character then change the name some how - either first or last. If Fox can rename the iconic Victor Von Doom to Victor Domashev I don't see why that's an issue.

Yeah, he said he had a problem with his helmet but I personally think it's the name that has Disney turned off.

Its a shame though, I tried to like Sam Alexander but the book did nothing for me.

I agree with Gunn's sentiment.

Quill should be the only earthling for now. And while I agree Richard Rider doesn't have to be from earth, I definitely think he should be. So just wait on Nova. He'll have his time to shine eventually.

If Nova is ever brought to life in the mcu, I wouldnt mind if they just combined Alexander and Ryder into one character for various reasons.
-First and foremost the "D!ck Ryder" name would be out of the way and just give him Ryders mannerisms/back story to satisfy the purist crowd.

-You could also satisfy the crowd who wants a Hispanic hero/lead which gives a capable Hispanic actor to shine in a cool super hero gig whether it be a nova movie or as a supporting role.

Kill two birds with one stone.

I don't want Gunn to touch Nove if he doesn't like'em. I doubt he'd do the the character justice.

Annihilation is what hooked me on to Mavel's cosmic universe to begin with and Nova was a big part of that. So lets just hope Gunn isn't the end all of Cosmic MCU projects.

And that we get an Annihilation phase down the line.

But then it's not "Nova", which is used as the superhero name for Richard Rider and Sam Alexander. If it's some random Novacorps member it would just be Rhomann Dey or Garthan Saal or someone similar. It might not even be a comicbook character.

This would be the same as saying that you Green Lantern could be in a JL movie, even if Hal Jordan, Alan Scott, Guy Gardner, John Stewart and Kyle Rayner can't be used. I mean, you could just use Larvox or Medphyll, right? They're also Green Lantern, right?
