Now we can invade countries in no more than two hours.

yayy i love this government :)

Considering we've been able to drop a nuclear bomb anywhere we want within two hours for the past 50 years or so, this really doesn't seem that bad.

Actually that is a pretty cool (and bloody useful) idea. If for no other reason, the threat of it is a something to be reckoned with.

I wish we would use it for comercial trips, it would be usefull for traveling to places like Japan or the European Union.

Cool? Useful? Threat?

It's just another wild idea from an already insanely overinflated defense industry. This scheme is in no way necessary, efficient or even feasable, unless you want to see more billions upon billions upon billions of your tax dollars flow into War Incorperated's pockets... hey, go nuts!

NASA's programs are near totally useless and definitely useless, but we still go crazy on them.

You're just going all hippie because the DOD's involved in this.

I think it's gonna end up being a comercial thing once it's perfected.

Probally won't happen considering the potential of other nations like China and Russia developing it and having the same capability to use the same tactic against us.

Yeah, that's what usually happens with these types of things. Hell, the internet itself was developed by the military.

But, y'know, that was just billions upon billions upon billions of your tax dollars flowing into War Incorperated's pockets.

Yeah but this guarantees the win if there is a race around the world...

I actually have that issue I feel like such a prick

Heck, I'm all for scrapping NASA too!

Yeah but this guarantees the win if there is a race around the world...
And when since the day of Phineas Fog has there been such a thing...?

Probally won't happen considering the potential of other nations like China and Russia developing it and having the same capability to use the same tactic against us.
They will anyway, in the long run. And then, just like everyone has nukes now, in a few decades there'll be a Battlestar Galactica from every nation hovering over our heads... woohoo!

:whatever:

Anyways, this is actually quite useful. We no longer would have to ask for the permission of nations like Pakistan, Turkey, etc. whenever we need (or want) to go into another country that requires going into another nations airspace.

We'd no longer have to deal with people like Musharaf and the need to support dictatorships like his would decrease.

The Government wastes money all the time in Research and Development. This is something that can be very usefull in the self defense on the nation - if it works it is worth the money. If its not this it will be laser technology that doesnt pan out, Space technology that is scrapped at the last moment, etc.

Russia hasn't been a threat in over a decade.

China is an ally, they won't attack the country that buys all of their crap.

Holy Xenophobia batman.:whatever:

Exactly, Russia isn't stable economically to think about a major military offensive.

We owe China too much money to be a viable target for them.

Don't you know that EVERYONE is a potential enemy and threat? :ninja:

That's not paranoia, that this administration's policy!

I'm pretty sick of the government putting eveything in its war chest until they deem it worthy for comercial use.

Not everything has to be used for war.

I wish we would use it for comercial trips, it would be usefull for traveling to places like Japan or the European Union.
actually this is the one idea that was designed for commercial use first....

intra atmospherical shuttle travel was in the works long before news of this.. i think that cook from virgin already has some shuttles going

Russia is becoming a dominant political and economic force once again.

China is an ally, they won't attack the country that buys all of their crap.
China isn't an ally

Holy Xenophobia batman.:whatever:
It's not xenophobia. There is no way the United States government would let this get into the hands of potential threats.

Quite the opposite. Putin is turning Russia around back into a dominant force in the world, despite his obvious desire to bring back the Soviet Union. Ever hear of Gazprom?

We owe China too much money to be a viable target for them.
The United States and other nations work hard to keep the status quo between the PRC and Taiwan to prevent a potential World War III. One with China against the United States.
