NYCC Cup 'o Joe

While a fan was asking about a possible Ares/Thor fight, Queada feigned taking a call on his cell phone saying, "Nope. Haven't seen it. Not for months." Upon completion of the call, he said "That was Dan DiDio looking for his market share

So Joe Mad is the reason for the Ultimates 3 delays? Un-****ing-believable.

But think of all the new game consoles released recently!

Choi & Oback on X-Force is great news for that title, but their loss on UXM may be mortal to my buying it (given who their replacement, or one of them, anyway, is).

McNiven's art on Wolverine looks nice.

In terms of Thor on the Avengers, at this point he'd really be no different from having the Sentry on the team; either he does everything, or they have to constantly come up with reasons for him not to be effective, effectively neutering him (and, unlike with Sentry, there's no built-in reason in Thor's concept).

Those kinds of things annoy me. I don't mind the friendly jibes that go all the way back to the Silver Age, but Quesada's style of "poking fun" is basically acerbic trash-talking.

Glad to hear that 1) Thor's included in the list of heavy-hitters and 2) there are lots of plans for him, Herc, and Ares (the Sentry I couldn't care less about). Looking forward to all that stuff.

Thor may have just recently returned to Earth, but that doesn't mean he can sit out the Secret Invasion. So, this summer, ol' goldilocks strides into the scrum to aid the planet against the insidious Skrull attack.

Editor Warren Simons describes the book as a "fun, action-packed, three-issue series that will demonstrate why Thor is one of the greatest heroes and icons in the Marvel [Universe]. We'll also be exploring the remarkable nobility of Donald Blake, and seeing his—and Thor's—dedication and commitment to humanity. And we'll be smashing aliens in the head with a hammer."

Beyond the head smashing, Thor's role in the struggle poses a unique difficulty for the raiding aliens.

"While the Skrull infiltration has seemingly touched every corner of the Marvel Universe, the one variable that the Skrulls might not have seen coming is Asgard's sudden reappearance in the Marvel U," Simons explains.

While the details of this limited series remain largely under wraps, Simons can drop a little about who will be bringing the Norse God of Thunder back into the thick of the Marvel Universe.

"I can announce that Mr. Matt Fraction will be writing this three-issue series," reveals Simons. "I am really excited to have Matt on board, especially after the really awesome THOR: AGES OF THUNDER special he just wrote for us. We've also lined up an extraordinary artist, but we won't be making any announcements for a few weeks. So, on an [excitement] scale of 1 to 10, let's say [we are at] 100 even."

I really, really, really, really, really, really, really can't wait.

To be fair, it was probably just a response to the earlier DC panel where DiDio bashed Marvel of being unoriginal again (re: Skrulls).

I couldn't stop laughing at his Stan Lee phone conversation lmao! "WHAT THE EFF DID YOU DO"?"?

I always thought Ares was only in the 70 ton range. Did he get an upgrade? Why isn't Hulk listed in there?! :cmad:

Probably because the Hulk's off doing his own thing at the moment.

And yeah, Ares got an upgrade. No explanation given; people at Marvel have just been saying he's up there with Thor and Hercules since Oeming's mini, even though they've both traditionally kicked his ass with ease. Sort of like how the Thing is now class 100 because Slott said so.

Ben at least has a history of growing stronger over a period of time. He started in the 5 ton range. I'm just glad he doesn't have the pointy rocks to show for it.

I didn't actually think it would be possible for Marvel to make me care about anything SI-related but that may have done it.

Quesada said he sometimes gets phone calls from Stan Lee out of the blue, and that the other day he got one with Stan asking, "I just read the last couple months of Marvel Comics. What the **** is wrong with you?"

I imagine a lot of people getting that call. Joe Quesada, Avi Arad, Brian Singer, Dan Didio, JK Rowling, the President, pretty much whoever Stan thinks is ****ing up on a given day. Cause Stan Lee thinks you're ****ing up and God dammit, he's gonna tell you.

Yeah, a whole floating city filled with gods is a hell of an X-factor.
