That happens when they give a cop a relative slap on the wrist for shooting an unarmed person. I really doubt if the guy was convicted of the higher charges there would have been any riots.
Whether the cop was wrong or not. Rioting solves nothing.
I feel like 2nd degree would have been appropriate. I mean, seriously, does it truly matter if he didn't know which weapon he was pulling on this man who posed no threat? The correct option would be none. And I find it a little hard to believe that between the motion of drawing the gun, aiming it and firing it, something didn't register in his brain that said, "This doesn't feel like a taser." Presumably a gun in a holster would have a safety on, right? You can't disengage a safety without knowing what you're holding.
Why is this considered involuntary?
Did they use the "gun fired by mistake" defense?
